AAA Lucha Libre recently announced the return of the World Cup tournament for March 19 later this year. The tournament will be a trios team format comprised of 12 teams (4 for the women & 8 teams for the men), no rules have been announced for the tournament but AAA President Dorian Roldan is promising an update regarding that subject. AAA Lucha Libre , All Elite Wrestling, IMPACT Wrestling, NWA and OZ Academy will be represented within both of the tournaments. There hasn’t been any indication yet of what the winning team will receive post the tourney finale.

AAA Lucha World Cup Teams Announced

Mexico will be represented by 3 teams overall throughout the show (Hijo del Vikingo, Psycho Clown, Alberto El Patron, Pentagon Jr, a returning Laredo Kid, Black Taurus, Sexy Star 2, La Hiedra and Lady Flammer to round out the entries) and the rest of the field is pretty stacked.

Current MLW National Openweight champion Johnny Caballero and NWA Women’s World Champion Kamille will be leading the charge for their respective teams representing America, joining them on the official teams will be Sam Adonis, Christopher Daniels , Jordynne Grace and former Knockouts World Champion Deonna Purrazzo. The talent coming over from IMPACT Wrestling doesn’t stop there as Josh Alexander, PCO, Joe Hendry and Bhupinder Gujjar will lead their respective nationalities into war. Vampiro will be a fixture on this show as he’s a member of Team Canada, the long-anticipated AAA debut of Natalia Markova is finally happening on this tour as she’ll be teaming alongside Taya and Christi Jaynes representing the Rest of World.

Thomas Latimer & Heddi Karaoui are teaming with Joe Hendry to show love for the United Kingdom, and the Latin America team (Carlito, Hip Hop man & Zumbi ) will definitely turn some heads, especially the former WWE United States champion Carlito. Last but certainly not least, the entries for Team Japan ( Emi Sakura, AKINO, Mayumi Ozaki, Kuuaki, Nishikawa and La Estrella making his AAA debut).

We should know more details very soon since Dorian Roldan is teasing an update regarding the rules and match order.
