Preview: WWE Raw (8/22/22) – Trish Stratus Appears

WWE Raw Featuring Trish Stratus

WWE steps into what Jerry Lawler would always call “Bizzaro World”, Canada. Monday Night Raw comes to us live from the Scotiabank Arena in Toronto, Ontario, Canada and we have to notable people regarding this historic venue. In 2006, WWE Raw held Unforgiven here. It was the event that saw Edge lose his first TLC match, losing the WWE Championship to John Cena who then started his year-plus-long reign. Meanwhile, Trish Stratus wrestled her final match as a full-time active performer on this event, submitting Lita to win her sixth and final WWE Women’s Championship in front of her hometown crowd. Both will appear here tonight. Here’s what to know about Stratus, Edge in action, and more on this week’s WWE Raw.

WWE Raw (8/22/22) Preview

Rated R Judgment

This week’s Raw marks Edge’s first time in his hometown of Toronto since SmackDown on September 16, 2011. It’s also his first match since the September 14, 2010 edition of Raw when he defeated his once former brother/best friend/tag team partner: Christian. Tonight, Edge gets his first taste of revenge as he takes on the very first person he recruited into The Judgment Day and the man who helped him defeat AJ Styles at WrestleMania, Damian Priest.

We’ll have to see what’s in store between these two and if the field can remain clean. Will the rest of The Judgment Day interfere, or will The Mysterios intervene?

Trish Comes Home on WWE Raw

Trish Stratus has appeared several times already whenever WWE comes to Canada, but on this week’s WWE Raw, it’s the first time in a while that it’s done for TV. She has been announced as appearing. However, there really isn’t any indication as to what for. Will she be involved in a segment for an ongoing story? Is there the slightest chance of seeing her decide to have a match and start things off here? Or maybe it’s just something to honor the long-established legend. Nonetheless, it’s certainly interesting, especially as how things have been freshened up on the creative side for WWE. Witness the return of Stratus on WWE Raw.

The Tag Team Tournament Continues

The WWE Women’s Tag Team Championship Tournament continues as two-thirds of the group seemingly known now as Damage CTRL, IYO SKY and Dakota Kai, face Asuka and Alexa Bliss. It’s certainly an intriguing match-up as once again we get to see The Genius Of The Sky and The Empress Of Tomorrow clash and continue this wonderful “Joshi dream match-up.” Alexa Bliss’, Asuka’s rather unlikely partner, more than likely meant to have been Becky Lynch prior to her injury, stands next to Asuka. Will we see this pair move on to tie Nikki ASH as 3-time champions? Or will the new Damage CTRL unit move on and continue to dominate?

Things are settling for the upcoming Clash at the Castle premium live event. However, we still have a few weeks to fill up that card. A 6-woman tag team match with Alexa Bliss, Asuka, and Raw Women’s Champion Bianca Belair taking on all of Damage CTRL has already been announced. In addition, viewers will see the long-awaited bout between Seth Rollins and Riddle. What else can we expect? Tune into Monday Night Raw to see.
