It has been quite a busy week for AEW as the company taped/aired a total of five shows. Wednesday night’s Dynamite aired live from the Schottenstein Center in Columbus, Ohio, the same location where this week’s special AEW Dark and this upcoming Monday’s AEW Dark Elevation were taped. On Friday, AEW aired a live Rampage from the Van Andel Arena in Grand Rapids, Michigan. Prior to that show, this Saturday’s Battle of the Belts 3 was taped, featuring three title matches.

The show, which will air on Saturday night, included three fantastic matches as Claudio CastagnoliThunder Rosa, and Wardlow all defended their championships.

Here are the spoilers and results for this Saturday’s special, AEW Battle of the Belts 3.

AEW Battle of the Belts Spoilers for August 6, 2022

  • ROH World Championship: Claudio Castagnoli made his first official defense of the Ring of Honor World Championship against DDT star, Konosuke Takeshita. According to those in attendance, this match unsurpisedly stole the show. Both wrestlers proved to be stars in what was reported as a closely contested affair with some unbelievable nearfalls. In the end, Castagnoli retained, winning with a powerbomb. The two showed respect to each other after the match as the crowd responded with a standing ovation.
  • TNT Championship: Wardlow vs Jay Lethal. The squeaky wheel gets the grease and on Dynamite, it was set up that Lethal would finally got his shot at Wardlow’s title. The two had a solid match according to those in attendance, with good back-and-forth throughout. Wardlow hit the powerbomb for the win but there were some extracurriculars after the match as Lethal, Satnam Singh, and Sonjay Dutt all beat down the champ afterward. Satnam ended the carnage by chokeslamming Wardlow through a table.
  • AEW Women’s Championship: Thunder Rosa vs Jamie Hayter. The match was a pretty balanced affair according to those in attendance. The finish came via a roll-up by Rosa. Before that, the match featured a decent amount of interference as Toni Storm aided on Rosa’s behalf to negate efforts by Britt Baker to interfere on Hayter’s behalf.

Battle of The Belts 3 Start Time

AEW’s Battle of The Belts 3 special will start at 8pm eastern on Saturday, August 6. This means that fans in the UK will have to stay up until 1am to see the three-match special.
