House of Black Attacks Darby Allin at AEW San Diego Comic-Con Panel (VIDEO)

AEW Comic Con panel sees House of Black attack Darby Allin

This year, San Diego Comic-Con (SDCC) made its grand return for the first time since the pandemic. The annual mega event featured panels from all areas including television, streaming, pop culture, and yes, wrestling. Both WWE and AEW had a strong presence at the event with WWE taking part in a panel with Mattel and AEW having a Comic Con panel about superheroes and villains in wrestling. With the stage set, AEW’s panel gave fans a real example of the dichotomy between the good guys and the bad guys when House of Black‘s Malakai Black and Brody King attacked Darby Allin before he could make his exit.

AEW’s Heroes and Villians panel featured Allin, CM Punk, Jade Cargill, Orange Cassidy, and Bryan Danielson. The panel was noteworthy earlier the night as both Danielson and Punk offered updates on their injury recovery timetables. But then, as the panel came to a close, it was noteworthy for another reason as before Allin could leave the stage, he was ambushed by the House of Black. As AEW fans will know, House of Black has been a thorn in Allin’s side for a few weeks now as it appears the company is setting up for a team tag match between Sting and Allin and Black and King. Or possibly, something more sinister as rumors have been flying that Allin may turn on Sting to join House of Black thus creating a new top heel for AEW in the process.

In the meantime, AEW is continuing to play up the angle of the rivalry between the two, even using their recent Comic-Con panel as a vehicle to help sell the bad blood. On Saturday night, as Allin was getting ready to end the panel, he was ambushed and attacked by Black and King and AEW captured it all on video, later posting the above on their Twitter page.

AEW is no stranger to using media outside of TV in order to help promote its storylines. Saturday night at the AEW Comic Con panel is just one more example of the company using its mainstream reach to its advantage.
