Mercedes Martinez looks to bounce back from her loss to Jamie Hayter as she squares off with Gemma Jewels. This week we will focus on not one but two match-ups! First, we’ll look at tag team action as the Varisty Blonds face-off with Sotheara Chhun and Tony Vincita. After that, we’ll shift our focus as Blake Christian debuts to face off with Rohit Raju.

Sotheara Chhun and Tony Vincita vs. The Varsity Blonds

The Varsity Blonds (Brian Pillman Jr. and Griff Garrison) are back in action on Dark, this time against Sotheara Chhun (also known as “Classic” Cody Chhun) and Tony Vincita. The chemistry and history of Pillman and Garrison warrant them being heavy favorites in this match-up. However, their manager Julia Hart could be their potential downfall.

Since being exposed to the black mist during their feud with Malakai Black, Hart’s slowly exhibited a shift in personality, and that could be all their talented opponents need to steal the victory. Vincita and Chhun are a tough tandem, with each man seeing their profile steadily rising and looking to capitalize with a potential victory over a high-profile team.

All of that being said, I see the Varsity Blonds ultimately picking up the win, but don’t be surprised if Julia turning on the duo is teased. Chhun and Vincita will give them a good fight, and I expect to see more of them in the future.

Blake Christian vs. Rohit Raju

Blake Christian makes his AEW debut and faces a tough test in former X Division Champion Rohit Raju. Christian will be a familiar face to WWE fans as he competed on NXT and 205 Live as Trey Baxter, with the highlight of his run being a match for the Cruiserweight Championship against Kushida. Since his release, he’s been very active competing in various promotions such as DEFY, GCW, DPW, and IMPACT.

Raju should not be overlooked in this match. He is a former X Division Champion and impressed many in his last outing on Dark, though he came up short against The Wingmen. One thing that gets overlooked far too often is Raju’s active competitor for 14 years. That’s almost three times the length of Christian’s career, and you can bet that difference in experience will be shown tonight.

Ultimately, I see Blake Christian picking up the win in his debut, but Raju will definitely make him earn it. This is definitely a match you won’t want to miss!
