Jonathan Gresham vs Chris Sabin at IMPACT Hard to Kill
December 23, 2021 By  IMPACT, North America, ROH

ROH World Title Match Set for IMPACT Hard to Kill

Despite his home promotion going on hiatus, Ring of Honor World Champion Jonathan Gresham is taking his title on the road and defending it across the nation. He’s already had one title defense in Game Changer Wrestling (GCW), against AJ Gray last week, and is set to defend it again at GCW’s upcoming show in New York City at the Hammerstein Ballroom against Blake Christian. On Thursday, it was announced that Gresham will be defending his ROH World Championship on PPV once again, but this time for IMPACT Wrestling at their Hard to Kill PPV on January 8, 2022, live from Dallas, Texas. And his opponent is none other than former IMPACT World Champion Chris Sabin.

Despite all of his success in TNA/IMPACT Wrestling, where Sabin is not only a former IMPACT World Champion, but an 8x IMPACT X-Division Champion and IMPACT World Tag Team Champion alongside Alex Shelley in Motor City Machine Guns, winning gold in ROH proved a tougher obstacle – the MCMG only won the ROH World Tag Team titles on one occasion, and Sabin never held any singles gold while in Ring of Honor. This marks only the third time that Chris Sabin has contested for the ROH World Championship – his last opportunity was against then-champion Jay Lethal at NJPW/ROH Global Wars in November of 2018, which was 13 years after his first World title match, against then-champion Bryan Danielson at ROH Showdown in Motown in November of 2005.
