Aerostar & Samuray Del Sol Set to Make AEW Debuts

On this week’s edition of AEW Dark a promo aired in which current AAA tag champions FTR (Dax Harwood & Cash Wheeler) stated that they would defend their titles against some of the top luchadors in the world on AEW Dynamite. Fans were quick to speculate the identities of these luchadors but Tony Khan but all speculation to an end during an appearance on Wrestling Observer Live when he confirmed that Aerostar and Samuray Del Sol (formerly Kalisto) would be FTR’s opponents. This will be both men’s AEW debut.

An 18-year veteran of the squared circle Aerostar will be a familiar name to fans of Lucha Underground where he was featured in each season of the show and even held the Lucha Underground Trios titles alongside Fenix and Drago. Aside from his work in AAA/LU some fans may have seen Aerostar during appearances in IMPACT WrestlingMajor League Wrestling, or even PROGRESS Wrestling.  If you still aren’t familiar with Aerostar well you may remember him from one of his many viral gifs spawning from some of his insane dives

Samuray Del Sol (FKA Kalisto)

While he may be known to most as a former United States and Cruiserweight Champion in WWE under the moniker of Kalisto the self-professed GLOAT (greatest luchador of all time) was once a highly touted high flier under the name Samuray Del Sol. Before signing with WWE in 2013, Samuray Del Sol was a star of the Chicago indie scene with AAW and GALLI Lucha and was on the upswing when he signed with WWE as he was competing for promotions like AAA Lucha LibrePro Wrestling Guerrilla, EVOLVE, and Dragon Gate USA before getting snapped up. Del Sol, still just 34 years old, will be looking to make a massive splash to finally become the star he was touted to be back in 2012/2013
