#AndNEW: Matt Cardona Regains Internet Championship at GCW Fight Club

Matt Cardona Chelsea Green Internet Championship

At GCW Fight Club, one man’s title was contested against another man’s career in Game Changer Wrestling. In this match, EFFY defended the Internet Championship against Matt Cardona, who put his GCW career on the line. In other words, if Cardona lost, he would have to leave the independent wrestling promotion forever. By the end of the night, Matt Cardona regained the Internet Championship. However, he didn’t do it alone.

Matt Cardona Wins Back the Internet Championship

Following his version of Radio Silence on Matt Cardona, it appeared that EFFY was well on his way to retain the Internet Championship. However, earlier in the match, Cardona inadvertently hit the referee with the belt. As EFFY made the cover, another official rushed down to make the count. However, before said official could count to 3, he was pulled out by a masked assailant, who proceeded to strike EFFY in the groin. This allowed Cardona to hit Radio Silence from the middle rope on EFFY. One pinfall later and Cardona won back his Internet Championship.

Post-match, the assailant unmasked, revealing herself as Chelsea Green, Matt Cardona’s real-life fiancé. The two proceeded to kiss in the ring as the GCW fans in attendance jeered. Green and Cardona proceeded to make their way to the backstage area through a sea of less than supportive viewers in attendance.

Other Details to Know

Last month, at GCW’s Get Lost Alot event, Cardona intended to invoke his rematch against GCW World Champion Jon Moxley. Earlier that month, Cardona lost the GCW world title to Moxley at The Art of War Games. GCW promoter Brett Lauderdale made his way to the ring, informing Cardona that in order to be added to the match involving Moxley and Gage at Fight Club, he would have to successfully defend his Internet Championship at Get Lost Alot. This led to EFFY rolling up Cardona from behind, shocking the “Alwayz Ready” antagonist of GCW by winning the Internet title.
