Preview: AEW Dynamite (7/14/21) – Fyter Fest Night One

AEW Fyter Fest

Everything is bigger in Texas and All Elite Wrestling finds itself deep in the heart of the “Lone Star” state for the first night of AEW Fyter Fest. “The Magical Girl” finds her way back to AEW as a “Superbad Girl” awaits her arrival. The possible culmination of a 23-year long love-hate relationship between two former friends now turned bitter enemies, two spectacular championship matches sanctioned for the night, and a lot more coming your way on the very first night of Fyter Fest. If you think Miami brought the heat last week then strap yourselves in. Texas will undoubtedly give AEW and its fans one hell of a ride. Because “It’s Wednesday Night, and you know what that means!”. It’s time for some AEW Dynamite. Let’s run it down.

Nail In The Coffin

The worst is yet to come for either Darby Allin or “All Ego” Ethan Page this Wednesday night. These two men will compete in the first-ever “Coffin Match” in AEW history. Ethan Page seemingly has been hellbent on destroying Darby Allin since the moment they crossed paths in All Elite Wrestling. No action was never low enough and no attack too disgusting if it meant hurting Allin. Page is fed up now. Page not only wants to hurt Darby but exterminate and extinguish his burning fire once and for all. But, Allin begs to differ. This just wasn’t a random chance of fate that brought these two together. This is calculated and personal. It’s been a long time coming. Allin claims that from day one, Page has been jealous of him and reviled him for making it to AEW first. That even in their time in the independent scene, Allin did in his first year alone what took Ethan 12 years to do in the professional wrestling business and that fact eats up Ethan Page inside.

Page denied none of this. He completely agrees with the statements made towards him. Page does hate the fact Darby supposedly skipped the line and bypassed him on his way to AEW. Page feels it in his heart that Allin owes him a lot and is hugely responsible for what Allin has been able to accomplish thus far in his young career. Page is looking for payback. And he is looking to cash in this Wednesday night. He wants to end Darby’s career and it seems like nothing will stop him. Will Darby Allin escape death once more or will “All Ego” Ethan Page finally have Allin dead to rights?

The Magical Girl versus The Superbad Girl

Yuka Sakazaki finally makes her return to AEW after an extended hiatus on Night One of Fyter Fest. “The Magical Girl” will go up against “Superbad Girl” Penelope Ford. Ford has won her last two matches and has looked very impressive in the year 2021. If she keeps this pace up she will undoubtedly be in the upper echelon of AEW World Women’s Championship contenders in no time at all. Not to be outdone, Sakazaki, although not being in the U.S. at the time, competed in the Japan bracket of the AEW Women’s World Championship Eliminator Tournament. Wherein she defeated Mei Suruga and icon Emi Sakura on her way to the Japan sides finals where she lost in a valiant effort against overall tournament winner Ryo Mizunami.

In a bit of a twist of fate, Ford is actually one of Sakazaki’s last opponents before her untimely but temporary departure from U.S. soil. The other one being Dr. Britt Baker, D.M.D. in a tag match wherein Sakazaki tagged with fellow Joshi superstar Riho. The excitement is at an all-time high once these two very talented women lock up in the middle of the ring. Will Penelope Ford make three-straight wins or will Yuka Sakazaki pull a rabbit out of the hat in her return to AEW?
