Preview: AEW Dynamite (5/28/21) – Double or Nothing 2021 Go-Home Show

AEW Dynamite 5/24/21

On a special Friday night edition of AEW Dynamite, the final preparations for Double or Nothing are about to commence. Only days away from the big event, the AEW stars are all revved up and ready to go. Expect the unexpected en route to the big pay-per-view as there are still scores that need to be settled. The TNT Champion will be in action as he defends his newly won crown against a very young but resilient up-and-comer. We celebrate the year-long reign of an unstoppable force as well as paying homage to the most dominant group in AEW in what could possibly be the last Dynamite they could ever appear at as a unit.

There is so much more to watch out for on this week’s loaded show, so fans should expect nothing less than the best on the last stop before Double or Nothing. As the hype and excitement for the event continue to grow, so does the restlessness of the AEW hopefuls. There’s no teaser quite like this to quench the thirst of these rabid wrestling fans. Different day, same exciting action. It may be Friday night this week, but you still should know what that means. It’s time for AEW Dynamite. Without further ado, let’s run it down.

A Dark Ascent Into the Skies

It’s game time for the forefathers of Dark Order as Stu Grayson and Evil Uno battle the cocky duo of “All Ego” Ethan Page and Scorpio Sky. Page and Sky’s dominance is undeniable at his point. They have won match after match since their formation, running their mouths week in and week out to the chagrin of the AEW fans. These two practically cost Darby Allin his TNT Championship, pushing Darby down a flight of stairs and injuring his elbow. Sky would also injure the legendary icon Sting by trapping him in a heel hook. Page and Sky made a statement that they want their time in the spotlight and they want it now. It’s apparent these two will do whatever it takes to get what they want. They need the attention, notoriety, and perks that come with it. The duo will have to earn it this Sunday, as AEW management made it official. It’s going to be Darby Allin and Sting versus Ethan Page and Scorpio Sky in a tag team match at Double or Nothing.

This will be Sting’s first non-cinematic match in over six years since his seemingly career-ending injury all those years ago. This is a massive match for Sky and Page; if they manage to pull out the victory, it will mean good things for them. It instantly catapults them to the top of the AEW tag team division. Before Sunday rolls around, they’re going to be tested. They will have to fight one of the fiercest and baddest tag teams AEW has had since day one. Grayson and Uno have been impressing everyone since AEW fans first saw them in action. It’s been a long while since we’ve seen the godfathers of Dark Order tag together. Rest assured, they will be as dangerous as ever come Friday night. Will Page and Sky reach for the win once again or will Stu Grayson and Evil Uno execute the Fatality and finish them?

“The Best Man” Begins His Reign

Two weeks after capturing the TNT Championship from Darby Allin, Miro will have his first title defense on Friday Night Dynamite against Dante Martin. Last week, Miro spoke of the destruction of Allin at his hands. To him, it was a foregone conclusion that he would be champion someway, somehow. He made good on his promise obliterating a very resilient Darby in one of the most brutal title matches AEW fans have ever seen. Lanch Archer made his presence known as he would come out and spoil Miro’s victory party and speech. Archer said that he competed in the match that determined the first TNT Champion opposite Cody Rhodes at last year’s Double or Nothing. Archer stated he may not have won the title then but he will be damned if he doesn’t come out as champion at this year’s edition of the event.

Miro would reply that Archer talks of death, that “everybody dies” eventually. Miro doesn’t mind dying, according to him, as long as the “The Murderhawk Monster” dies first at his hands. This was a scorching war of the words between these two titans. Come Double or Nothing, there will be nothing that can stop these two from bludgeoning each other for the honor to be called champion at the end of the match. Dante Martin will have the opportunity of a lifetime. It’s either going to be a dream realized or a nightmare come to life for the youngster. Will Martin pull off possibly the biggest upset in AEW history thus far and slay the “Bulgarian Brute” or will Miro destroy the high-flyer on his way to his showdown with Archer?
