Mauro Ranallo Returning To Wrestling, Will Commentate Rich Swann vs. Kenny Omega at Rebellion

Mauro Ranallo IMPACT Wrestling

Mauro Ranallo is making his return to professional wrestling. On Thursday, it was reported by ESPN’s Marc Raimondi that Ranallo will be commentating on the Champion vs. Champion match in IMPACT Wrestling that will put IMPACT World Champion Rich Swann against AEW World Champion Kenny Omega at Rebellion. Ranallo is currently one of the head voices in combat sports, most notably commentating the Mike Tyson vs. Roy Jones Jr. fight last year. Considered to be one of the biggest matches of the year, IMPACT Wrestling seems to have gone all out to up the anty, adding Ranallo to the broadcast.

IMPACT has confirmed Ranallo’s appearance, also revealing that he has narrated two special features on both Swann and Omega.

Mauro Ranallo is well known in the pro wrestling world for his days working with WWE. He served as SmackDown’s lead announcer from 2016 to 2017 before going on hiatus. It was in June of 2017 that Ranallo returned to the company, becoming the head play-by-play commentator for the NXT brand. Ranallo became a fan favorite, announcing countless NXT TakeOver events. He held that position until his departure on Aug. 31, 2021.

As of this writing, Ranallo’s return to wrestling looks to be a one-time venture but could open up the opportunity for more down the line.
