Matthew Palmer Makes IMPACT Debut

There’s a new power couple in TV wrestling, as US indie wrestler Matthew Palmer – husband of NXT Superstar Ember Moon – made his official IMPACT Wrestling debut in a match against “TNA World Heavyweight Champion” Moose on Tuesday night. Palmer – with a timely distraction from Willie Mack – pulled off the upset victory over Moose by lasting the three minutes against Moose in his 3-minute challenge.

Matthew Palmer, like his wife, started out in the Texas independent circuit, debuting in 2008 where he became a regular with Austin’s Anarchy Championship Wrestling (ACW). Over the past decade, he’s become an ACW Heavyweight Champion, ACW Hardcore Champion, and 2x ACW Tag Team Champion, as well as competing for other Texas promotions like Inspire Pro and Metroplex (MPX), where he’s become a 3x MPX Champion and Inspire Champion as well.

Over the years, he’s expanded out of the Texas territory, working for the likes of Beyond Wrestling, St. Louis Anarchy, Full Impact Pro, Combat Zone Wrestling (CZW), and Iowa’s Wrestling Revolver, where he’s the reigning 2x Revolver Champion. While it was Palmer’s official debut on IMPACT Wrestling television, he has appeared twice before on IMPACT specials co-produced with US indies – he first appeared at IMPACT and Wrestling Revolver’s Penta Does Iowa event free on Twitch, where he lost his Revolver Scramble Championship to current IMPACT World Champion Rich Swann in a huge Scramble match (that also featured Sugar Dunkerton, Ace Austin, “Air Wolf” Darius Martin (of AEW’s Top Flight), Gringo Loco, and Larry D) in May of 2018. He appeared for another IMPACT co-production in July of 2019, this time with San Antonio’s River City Wrestling (RCW) for Bash At The Brewery on FITE TV that saw Palmer, Andy Dalton & Steve O Reno face off against IMPACT’s Rascalz (Dezmond Xavier, Zachary Wentz & Trey Miguel) in 6-man tag action.

It’s safe to say that Ember Moon was pretty excited for and proud of her husband’s debut on IMPACT television on Tuesday night.

It’s not unusual to have wrestling couples succeeding on multiple companies nowadays, such as John Morrison (WWE) & Taya Valkyrie (IMPACT), Britt Baker (AEW) & Adam Cole (NXT), Jonathan Gresham (Ring of Honor) & Jordynne Grace (IMPACT), Bayley (WWE) & Aaron Solow (AEW), and Io Shirai (NXT) & EVIL (NJPW). Whether Palmer continues to work with IMPACT Wrestling or it was simply a one-off remains to be seen, but for one night, Ember Moon & Matthew Palmer joined the list of couples making waves on national television.
