Jay White Defeats Kota Ibushi & Wins G1 Briefcase

Jay White

At Power Struggle In Osaka Jay White and Kota Ibushi did battle with Ibuhsi’s right to challenge for the titles at the Tokyo Dome on the line.  For the first time in history, the G1 Climax winner lost their briefcase as White came away with the win.  This means that Jay White is now the number one contender for the IWGP Heavyweight & Intercontinental Championships at Wrestle Kingdom.

This is a huge twist in the road to WrestleKingdom as Jay White now becomes the top contender to Tetsuya Naito, unless we see another twist in the tale and Naito drops his titles.  Ibushi once again chokes at the big moment, after reaching his third G1 Finals in a row and winning a second in a row it seemed like it was finally Ibushi’s time to win the titles.  Alas, Ibushi’s story has more time to go as he once again resets and sets off to climb the mountain again.

Jay White makes history and after being one of the favourites to win the G1 has come away with an even more impactful win as he becomes the first person ever to win the G1 Briefcase from the tournament winner.  White is on a collision course for Naito, or EVIL..
