Preview: Stardom – Goddess Of Stardom Tag League 2020

Goddess Of Stardom Tag League

We have just finished the 5STAR Grand Prix but there is no rest for the wicked as we head straight into the Goddess Of Stardom Tag League 2020, Stardom’s annual tag team tournament.  We have two blocks of 5 teams with a bit of a twist.  The teams in the Red Goddess Block will wrestle the teams in the Blue Goddess Block rather than their own.  With that out of the way let’s get into our preview of the Goddess Of Stardom Tag League 2020

Blue Goddess Block

Dream H (Tam Nakano & Mina Shirakawa)

Tam Nakano teams with the newcomer Mina Shirakawa.  These two women wrestled on the Nagoya event on October 4th and Nakano became obsessed with Shirakawa’s H-Cup bra size….hence the team name Dream H.  After the match Nakano asked to team with Shirakawa.  Nakano will renew her rivalry with Giulia in tag league and she will also face her STARS comrades Mayu Iwatani and Starlight Kid in Dream H’s most notable matches.  Dream H may perform well but it’s tough to see them winning the tournament.

MOMOAZ (Momo Watanabe & AZM)

The only team to appear in both last years and this years tag league the Queen’s Quest duo are stronger than they were last year as AZM has had a breakout year in 2020, capturing the High Speed title was a big moment for her.  MOMOAZ will likely finish high in their block, it’s plausible they could even win the block.

Grab The Top (Syuri & Himeka)

Donna Del Mondo has two strong teams in this Goddess Of Stardom Tag League and these two are our favorites to win the tournament.  Himeka has been booked very strong since her debut in Stardom, even winning her 5STAR block and becoming the first person to beat Giulia in singles competition.  Syuri has been kept strong too as she only loses to top names on rare occasions.  The DDM vs DDM clash will be very interesting as will Himeka and Utami Hayashishita meeting again.  Grab The Top are our favourites to win, but even if they don’t they’ll be a very interesting team.

Black Widows (Bea Priestley & Konami)

Oedo Tai’s newest member teams with Bea Priestley in a team that could win this whole tournament.  Both women have found their calling in the tag team division in Stardom as both are former Goddesses Of Stardom champions.  Priestley also comes into this after winning the SWA Championship at Yokohama Cinderella.   Keep an eye on this team as they might be our tournament champions.

Color Me Pop (Riho & Gokigen Death)

DEATH Yama-San is no more.  We now have happy death!  This is thanks to some magic that Mayu Iwatani was able to cast in an effort to help DEATH Yama-San return to her normal self.  Death teams with Riho in a very interesting team that won’t win the tournament but will certainly have some good matches.

Red Goddess Block

MK☆Sisters (Mayu Iwatani & Starlight Kid)

Goddess Of Stardom Tag League 2020

The STARS duo of Mayu Iwatani and Starlight Kid will team up and are instant favourites to win their block.  Iwatani is the current World Of Stardom Champion and has some history with almost every team that they will face in this tournament.  Current Goddesses Of Stardom champion Utami Hayashishita is one of Iwatani’s next challengers for the world title so Iwatani and Kid winning this tournament and challenging for the tag belts could be a way to build to Iwatani vs Hayashishita.

This team will find it hard to pick up many points but they will deliver some good matches, especially against Grab The Top and MOMOAZ.  Neither Hanan or Iida have managed to make their way up the card in any significant way but both will give their opponents as much of a fight as they can, which will make them a fun team to watch

AphroditE (Saya Kamitani & Utami Hayashishita)

Goddess Of Stardom Tag League 2020

The reigning Goddesses Of Stardom Champions go into this tournament after making their first title defence at Yokohama Cinderella.  We don’t expect the champions to win the tag league but AphroditE has some really interesting matches in this tournament.  They will take on fellow QQ member MOMOAZ, Hayashishita and Himeka will go at it again when they take on Grab The Top, and Dream H has Nakano who helped train Kamitani.  While they likely won’t win AphroditE will have a good tournament.

Crazy Bloom (Giulia & Maika)

Goddess Of Stardom Tag League 2020

The two double champions of DDM team up in tag league.  Giulia has come into Stardom like a house on fire over the past 12 months and is one of their top stars.  Maika has had some success this year but comes into this tournament on a string of losses and we will likely see her take more of those in this tournament.  There will be some good matches from Crazy Bloom though as they face their DDM stablemates, MOMOAZ and Dream H in what should be interesting matches.

Devil Duo (Saki Kashima & Natsuko Tora)

Tora and Kashima are an interesting team for this tournament.  The two have spent the majority of the time since Stardom returned getting disqualified be that together or in singles matches.  If they continue to do that then they won’t succeed in the Goddess Of Stardom Tag League but if they were to seriously try they could be serious contenders.  All eyes will be on their match with the Black Widows as Oedo Tai will collide.
