US Deathmatch Icon Matt Tremont Announces Retirement

Matt Tremont

In his almost ten year career, Matt Tremont has stood a cut above the rest as one of the best deathmatch wrestlers in all of America.  As good things must come to an end though and Matt Tremont has announced that on October 30th 2020 he will retire following “The Separate Ways Tour” at H2o Wrestling.

Tremont was a long time regular for Combat Zone Wrestling (CZW) where not only be a pillar of their deathmatch scene but he also won the CZW World Championship in his time with the company.  Despite his many years with CZW he only won their signature Tournament Of Death once back in 2014.

His career peak arguably came in 2017 when he was involved in the high profile feud with Atsushi Onita, Onita is a deathmatch legend thanks to his work in FMW, and getting to work with him brought Tremont to a new level of prominence.  The two would have three different matches in 2017 with Tremont being brought to Japan for one of those.

Outsize of CZW Tremont was also incredibly successful in the deathmatch scene.  He won a number of deathmatch tournament like IWA Mid-South’s King Of The Death Match, he won Game Changer Wrestling’s Nick Gage Invitational, defeating Gage himself in the final, he also won the Crimson Cup as well as a number of others.

One thing is for sure, the deathmatch scene will miss Matt Tremont, but join us in following #THELASTCHAPTER as Tremont goes out with a bang.
