Preview: WWE – Friday Night SmackDown (6/26/20)

Friday Night SmackDown

Friday Night SmackDown sees AJ Styles make his first defense of his newly won Intercontinental Championship, Braun Strowman responds to the re-emergence of cult leader Bray Wyatt and Sheamus holds a toast for Jeff Hardy.  Let’s preview the action

A Tribute To The Undertaker

Friday Night SmackDown is now a tribute night for The Deadman.  This includes re-airing the Boneyard match from WrestleMania.  This is all part of honoring The Undertaker following the final chapter of The Last Ride.

Note: All other prior announcements have been wiped from the wwe.com preview and may no longer be airing

Sheamus Makes A Toast To Jeff Hardy

Friday Night SmackDown

At Backlash Sheamus defeated Jeff Hardy in a hard fought battle.  Now Sheamus holds a toast to Jeff Hardy and will likely rub his victory in the face of Hardy.  These two seem far from done so expect Hardy to crash the party if Sheamus runs his mouth too much

Braun Strowman Reacts Bray Wyatt’s Rebirth

The story between these two took another twist last week when “The eater of worlds” Bray Wyatt reappeared for the first time in over a year.  This newest chapter in this tale will see Strowman combat the man that discovered him and brought him to the WWE.  This week we get Strowman’s reaction to Wyatt’s return, and you can be sure he will have a lot to say.

Intercontinental Championship: AJ Styles (C) vs Drew Gulak

fr

AJ Styles defeated Daniel Bryan in the finals of a tournament to become the new Intercontinental champion.  On this edition of Friday Night SmackDown he makes defence number one against Bryan’s coach Drew Gulak.  This is an important defense for Styles as he needs to prove that he can elevate the IC title and return to his top spot in “the house that AJ Styles built”.  Styles is also coming off a loss to Matt Riddle who won’t be too far and could set his sights on the IC title following his debut win.

Not Announced But Expected

– New Day respond to last week’s attack by Shinsuke Nakamura and Cesaro

– Follow up on Sonya Deville and Mandy Rose

– Will Bayley finally get a challenger?
