Preview: DDT TV Show Episode #4 (5/23/20)

It’s almost been a month since the announcement of Dramatic Dream Team’s (DDT) weekly showcase aptly called DDT TV Show airing every Saturday. Since then we’ve had anime parodies, many hardcore matches, and Yoshihiko attacking the members of ALL OUT. On the upcoming DDT TV Show #4 we are treated to three title matches, the return of two legends, and a match that has a lot of bad blood brewing along with other matches.

All Out (Akito/Yuki Iino) vs Kazusada Higuchi and Yukio Naya

These two teams have not had the greatest of luck. The ALL OUT contingent has been locked in the blood feud against Yoshihiko. However in this match they might have bigger things to worry about as last week it was Akito losing his Right to Challenge Gauntlet to Tetsuya Endo that allowed Endo to take the Right to Challenge Sword back from Eruption‘s Kazusada Higuchi. As that gauntlet originally was Yuki Iino‘s it appears they may have made an accidental enemy in Higuchi. Who is determined to avenge Yukio Sakaguchi‘s loss to Masato Tanaka.

Ironman Heavymetalweight Championship: Danshoko Dieno (c) vs Antonio Honda

A rematch from last week, as both competitors were deemed unable to continue after repeated low blows caused the match to be thrown out. As this doesn’t technically count as a defense, Antonio Honda gets another shot at Danshoku Dieno’s title.

Konosuke Takeshita vs Yoshihiko

DDT TV Show

“ALL OUT IS ALL DEAD” those words have been following one Konosuke Takeshita from the very first episode of the DDT TV Show. And Yoshihiko has been following up on their promise with victory after victory against the members of ALL OUT. The only blemish being a loss against Akito after heavy interference from Takeshita. After the hardcore match defeating Shunma Katsumata last week the leader of ALL OUT had enough and is now facing Yoshihiko head to head.

Jun Akiyama vs Mizuki Watase

After losing last week Mizuki Watase stood defiant against the All Japan Pro Wrestling legend challenging him to a straight one on one match. Jun Akiyama accepted but seemed dismissive. Watase hasn’t been able to make much of a splash on DDT ever since the short-lived stable of the renegades but has always been a symbol of the DDT style having been brought up through DDT’s old developmental DNA. In the end will the 29-year-old be able to upset the legend with having the home-field advantage?

Extreme Title Match: Shinya Aoki (c) vs Keigo Nakamura

The second title on the line on this card is the Extreme title. Normally the rules are chosen ahead of time by the champion, but just like his first defense it seems that Shinya Aoki is being very indecisive about what ruleset he wants so it’s currently listed as rules to be determined, going into his defense against Keigo Nakamura. The Extreme Title is the most volatile title in DDT so expect the unexpected here.

HARASHIMA and Masato Tanaka vs DAMNATION (Tetsuya Endo/Soma Takao)

In a very interesting matchup that has been announced, HARASHIMA and the current KO-D Openweight champion Masato Tanaka team up to take on Tetsuya Endo and Soma Takao. There’s some intrigue going into this match, as Endo is the current Right to Challenge Sword holder. If he decides that this is a good opportunity he could exchange it for a KO-D title match. At the same time if he is pinned by HARASHIMA or Tanaka he will lose the sword. Soma Takao is here to play defense for Endo mainly, but he’s had his problems with HARASHIMA recently. It’ll be interesting to see how this one crumbles.

DDT Universal Championship: Daisuke Sasaki (c) vs Chris Brookes vs MAO vs Naomi Yoshimura

DDT TV Show Episode #4

So Daisuke Sasaki really is eating crow on this one. After beating Chris Brookes, he declared that he wouldn’t defend this title unless it was against a Japanese competitor. Brookes made his statement clear after Sasaki’s first defense against Antonio Honda on DDT TV Show #1 hitting him with a Praying Mantis Bomb on the title. After the hardcore match against Shunma Katsumata, Brookes was attacked and his challenge accepted by Sasaki. Only for him to be pulled away by MAO and one half of the KO-D Tag Champions, Naomi Yoshimura. They both declared they wanted a title shot. The General Manager Hisaya Imabayashi, made this four-way match due to Sasaki’s earlier stipulation of not defending the title unless there was a Japanese wrestler involved. These four are known names for their own reasons, but it seems like Brookes is more focused on getting the title off of Sasaki than winning it for himself. It’ll be an uphill battle for the leader of DAMNATION to retain the title.
