Gresham is usually seen in the UK alongside Chris Brookes as part of CCK but with Brookes spending the year in Japan Gresham gets the chance to show off his skills. Since his last time in the UK Gresham has taken on a new demeanor, turning heel in ROH and adopting a much more menacing mask. This new change of character has freshened up his act.
SSS16 is a celebration of wrestling and Gresham’s immense technical skills opens up the opportunity to have some excellent matches in this tournament which often features top-level contracted talent as well as the best talent from the US, Europe, and the UK.
Last year’s tournament received criticism for being too heavy on NXT contracted talent so Gresham is a great name to use to kick off this year’s announcements as he is a big name but isn’t attached to the WWEa and most importantly he has already built a rapport with the UK audience during his previous visits.
