Great Muta First Name Announced For Joey Janela’s Spring Break 4

For the past few years, one of the highlights of WrestleMania week has been the annual Joey Janela’s Spring Break series, presented by Game Changer Wrestling (GCW). These fun events feature some of the best up-and-comers in the indies, alongside longtime veterans and the occasional legend. With Joey Janela’s Spring Break 4 official for Tampa in 2020, the first talent announcement was revealed by Janela himself on Twitter on Monday night. And it’s Japanese icon The Great Muta.

The Great Muta becomes the latest Japanese veteran to appear at a Spring Break event, as the second event (2018) featured Janela vs. The Great Sasuke, and this year’s edition featured Japan legends like Shinjiro Otani, TAKA Michinoku, Masashi Takeda, Masato Tanaka, and Kikutaro.

The Great Muta began his career with New Japan Pro Wrestling (NJPW) in 1984 and has gone to work with many of Japan’s top promotions, including All Japan Pro Wrestling (AJPW), Pro Wrestling NOAH, and WRESTLE-1, where he’s a 4x IWGP Heavyweight Champion and 3x All Japan Triple Crown Champion. For much of the 1990s, he was a member of the nWo Japan team, as he was a frequent performer for WCW. He’s also worked for IMPACT Wrestling and multiple other US promotions, including an excursion to Championship Wrestling From Florida back in 1986 and the Von Erich’s World Class Championship Wrestling (WCCW) from 1988 to 1989.
