“Filthy” Tom Lawlor Finished With MLW

Tom Lawlor

Major League Wrestling (MLW) CEO Court Bauer revealed on Twitter on Wednesday night that former MLW World Heavyweight Champion “Filthy” Tom Lawlor is no longer with the company and that MLW “wish him continued success with the next chapter of his career.” PWInsider had previously reported last week that his contract was expiring and that the two sides were still negotiating, but with Bauer’s tweet it appears as if Lawlor may be testing the free agency market.

During a suspension from UFC in 2017, Tom Lawlor – who had a 10-7 MMA record – made the transition to pro wrestling, joining MLW for the company’s reboot after a 13-year hiatus that year. As one of the growing faces of the company, he defeated Low Ki for the MLW World Championship this past February and held the title for 154-days before losing to Jacob Fatu at Kings of Colosseum in July. A former high school and collegiate wrestler with the University of Central Florida, he began his combat career as an indie wrestler in the Florida indie circuit before turning his attention to MMA.

In August of 2018, he was released by the UFC (just months prior to his suspension being lifted), but despite having one more MMA fight, has stuck to the world of professional wrestling instead, also competing for Beyond Wrestling, Absolute Intense Wrestling (AIW), Warrior Wrestling, DEFY Wrestling, and more. His next match is this Friday in Indiana for Black Label Pro as part of Slamilton 2.
