#AndNEW: A New Era In SHIMMER Begins

Shimmer Lookback

It was a busy weekend for SHIMMER over the weekend as they taped SHIMMER 114 through117 over the weekend in the Chicago area. On Saturday, Team Sea Stars captured the SHIMMER Tag Team titles, but the title changes didn’t end there. By the end of Sunday, the entire title scene had been reset.

#AndNEW: Hyan is the new Interim Heart of SHIMMER Champion

Samantha Heights had won the Heart of SHIMMER Championship back at SHIMMER 113, but shortly after headed to Japan to compete for Marvelous. While overseas, she tore her ACL. SHIMMER doesn’t vacate titles, so they have committed to Heights as the reigning Champion, but they wanted to crown an interim Heart of SHIMMER Champion while she recovers. At 116, they held a triple threat between Kris Statlander, EVE Champion Rhia O’Reilly and reigning 3x Reality of Wrestling Diamonds Champion Hyan, that saw Hyan emerge victorious as the interim champion. Whomever is holding the title upon Samantha Heights’ return to action will face off to unify the two reigns. Hyan has been another top prospect from the vibrant Texas indie scene, who has really emerged as one of the names to watch heading into 2020, as she’s also the reigning Sabotage Wrestling Champion as well.

#AndNEW: Kimber Lee Wins the SHIMMER Championship

A week removed from Nicole Savoy establishing a new record for the longest reigning SHIMMER Champion (breaking MsChief‘s record reign of 715 days), Kimber Lee defeated Savoy at 116, ending Savoy’s record-breaking run at 721 days. It marks Kimber Lee’s second singles title since leaving the WWE in March of 2018 (after a two year run in NXT as Abbey Laith) – she spent half of 2018 as the AAW Women’s Champion. She’s also coming off a recent win of the CHIKARA King of Trios, where she teamed with Ophidian and Lance Steel in The Crucible. A former SHIMMER Tag Team Champion with Allie (then Cherry Bomb) in the Kimber Bombs, it marks her first singles title with the company she debuted with back in 2013.
