Project Monix vs. Carlos Romo

Project Monix has been one of the Midwest’s best-kept secrets and the 5-year pro is on the verge of exploding. A regular with IWA Mid South and 2x IWA Mid South Junior Heavyweight Champion, he’ll have a great opportunity to prove himself against the world’s best as he takes on Spanish indie sensation Carlos Romo. One half of Team WhiteWolf with A-Kid, Romo has been working the European indies for ages, including the UK scene the past few years, and he’s now breaking in North America as well.

Jody Fleisch vs. Isaias Velazquez

One of Freelance Wrestling’s best veterans takes on a veteran of the British indie scene on Friday night in Chicago. Isaias Velazquez is a former 2x Freelance World Champion and the all-around grappler faces off against 23-year veteran Jody Fleisch from London, England. Fleisch has made a name for himself in many top UK indies, including Frontier Wrestling Alliance (FWA), Insane Championship Wrestling (ICW), International Pro Wrestling (IPW), and dozens more over the course of his over a two-decade career.

The Take It Homewreckers (Darin Corbin, Bucky Collins, & Kenny Sutra) vs. Arik Cannon & ??? & ???

The ongoing rivalry between Darin Corbin and Arik Cannon continues, with a massive 6-man tag team match on Friday night. These two have fought around the country, from F1RST Wrestling in Minnesota to Bar Wrestling in California to Freelance Wrestling in Chicago and it continues once again on Friday night. Corbin has rounded up two of his Take It Homewreckers crew in Bucky Collins and Kenny Sutra, but so far no news has been revealed on who Arik Cannon will be calling for backup in Chicago. If history is any indication, this will not be a match light on aggression.

Jody Threat vs. Elayna Black vs. Laynie Luck vs. Missa Kate vs. Kara Noia vs. Blair Onyx

A 6-woman scramble match featuring six names emerging as new faces of women’s independent wrestling. Canadian Jody Threat has been a staple with Smash Wrestling for a few years now, but this past year she’s exploded in the US and UK indies. Elayna Black is a hometown Chicago girl who has gained some exposure this year with RISE WrestlingLaynie Luck got her big break in the Texas indies a few years back with Inspire Pro and Anarchy Championship Wrestling and is now competing for the likes of RISE, Reality of Wrestling (ROW), and SHIMMER. “Chicago’s Sweetheart” Missa Kate is one of the newer faces on the scene, a product of the Freelance training school. North Dakota’s Cara Noia is a student of Ken Anderson (aka Mr. Kennedy) and the two-year pro and is looking to break out of the Minnesota indie scene. Blair Onyx is another new face on the scene, and a student from Seth Rollins‘ school, The Black & The Brave.

Freelance Legacy Championship: The Eye Candy Elliott Open Challenge

Eye Candy Elliott is putting his Freelance Legacy Championship on the line in an Open Challenge match to anyone in the Freelance locker room on Friday – except for his longtime rival EFFY. Which totally means EFFY is sneaking in somehow, right?

Jordynne Grace vs. Thunder Rosa

Photo: Freelance Wrestling

A huge match-up, as IMPACT Wrestling’s Jordynne Grace puts her power to the test against the fierce competitiveness of Thunder Rosa. Grace has been one of the best wrestlers of the past two years, against men and women alike, and continues to power through the IMPACT Knockouts division. Thunder Rosa has become one of the top fighters in the US indies, as well as appearing for Women of Wrestling (WOW) as Serpentine and Lucha Underground as Kobra Moon. She’s also prepping for a side step into MMA, so this is a serious match between two tough wrestlers.

Freelance World Tag Team Championship: Space Pirates (Shane Sabre & Space Monkey) (c) vs. Sea Stars (Ashley Vox & Delmi Exo)

Space Pirates is the Canadian tag team featuring Shane Sabre and Space Monkey, and the duo has become quite popular in the US Midwest indie scene over the past year. They captured the Freelance Tag Team titles last month at FW Get Over or Die Tryin’, ending the lengthy reign of the Work Horsemen for the titles. They have their first defense on Friday night against CHIKARA favorites the Sea Stars, featuring sisters Ashley Vox & Delmi Exo. The tandem has also made huge waves in RISE, SHIMMER, Beyond Wrestling, and Queens of Combat.

Freelance World Championship: “All Ego” Ethan Page (c) vs. Swoggle vs. Rickey Shane Page

Photo: Freelance Wrestling

This past April, Ethan Page defeated Kylie Rae for the Freelance World Championship, and in 154-days he’s defended the title against Rickey Shane Page, Hakim Zane, and BMD. Rickey Shane Page returns for another shot at Ethan’s title, but he’s not alone – it’ll be a triple threat match-up featuring former WWE Cruiserweight Champion Swoggle. And while initially, it would appear Swoggle is out of his element against the two Pages, it could be the latter twos concentration on each other that could lead to Swoggle finding the right opportunity to strike gold.
