Hiroshi Tanahashi defeated Zack Sabre Jr in the UK at NJPW Royal Quest for the British heavyweight championship with the High Fly Flow. It has been a rivalry that has been simmering since Sabre debuted in NJPW and tapped out “The Ace” in the NJPW G1 Climax tournament in 2017. RevPro is the UK home of “The Technical Wizard” although Tomohiro Ishii traded the British heavyweight title with Sabre as well. The NJPW invasion of the UK continues but Tanahashi ends up with another short title reign.
NJPW Destruction In Beppu featured Zack Sabre Jr vs Hiroshi Tanahashi in the main event and the match lasted a gruelling twenty-seven minutes. Tanahashi would eventually tap out to Sabre once again due to a grounded Cobra Twist. This makes Zack Sabre Jr the record-holder for the most times as the British heavyweight champion for RevPro with four title reigns. Tanahashi had successful elbow surgery in April yet he keeps winning championships although Sabre was the better man at NJPW Destruction In Beppu.
