Jushin Thunder Liger Bids Farewell To CMLL At Arena Mexico

Tomorrow night at Arena Mexico marks the final night we will see the legendary (and considered by many the all-time best Junior Heavyweight), Jushin Thunder Liger, bid his farewell to the fans of Consejo Mundial de Lucha Libre (CMLL), as he will face some of his greatest foes one by one. If that’s not all, another legend returns and brings family with him. LA Park returns to where it all began for him. Here’s a look at what’s to come for tomorrow’s momentous show.

Jushin “Thunder” Liger vs. Caristico, Negro Casas, and Ultimo Guerrero:

In a match fitting Jushin “Thunder” Liger, he decided to go out with a bang and face some of his greatest rivals in his career in CMLL going back to one of his oldest rivals in Negro Casas, a rivalry going back close to the beginning of Ligers career in CMLL which began back on December 26th, 1990 when he successfully defeated Negro Casas for his IWGP Junior Heavyweight Title on NJPW King Of Kings at the Hamamatsu Arena in Hamamatsu, Shizuoka, Japan. The two have met close to 100 times in Ligers illustrious career.

Liger also faces Carisitico, who is considered one of the top tecnicos in all of CMLL and has met Liger on twenty-five different occasions stemming back from his days as the original “Mistico”. The two would first meet back on September 13th, 2009 as part of a 6 man tag match which was a best two out of three falls match where one side had Jushin Liger teaming with Yujiro and Tetsuya Naito versus the team of La Sombra (also known as Andrade in WWE), Mistico and Volador Jr. which also resulted in Ligers team winning. Tomorrow will mark the twenty-sixth time these two legends of their respective promotions meet.

The CMLL World Heavyweight Champion, Ultimo Guerrero will also meet Jushin “Thunder” Liger as one of the participants of the match as the two go back since April 27th, 2003 when the two would be involved in an eight-man tag match involving AKIRA, Heat, Super Crazy and Tiger Mask defeating the team of Jushin Liger, Ultimo Guerrero, Rey Bucanero and Koji Kanemoto. The two would-be partners on other occasions but would be opponents later on.

Between the three opponents, Jushin Liger has had well more than one hundred matches with all three of them which is a reason as to why this match is happening. In his farewell, Jushin “Thunder” Liger decided to have a final go with three of his most well-known opponents from CMLL. Will the half Lion and half Tiger whose agility and strength has continued for over 30 years be enough to topple the three Lucha legends, or will one of the three be able to cut Ligers farewell match short?

LA Park, Hijo de LA Park & LA Park Jr. vs. RUSH, Mistico & La Bestia Del Ring:

A rivalry that stems close to five years that has CMLL 86 Aniversario main event implications all over it in RUSH and LA Park, La Familia Real will face off against Dinastia Munoz. The story here is that with LA Park’s return, immediate attention was brought to the rivalry between him and RUSH. The two have met on close to 100 different occasions with only one occasion being outside of Mexico. Needless to say, however, these two do NOT like each other and are on a path of destruction against one another. Last year the two challenged each other to a hair versus mask match that perhaps would have taken place at CMLL’s biggest event of the year, their 85th Anniversary show, however, the match would never come to fruition. That didn’t stop them from trying to have a match in the United States through Major League Wrestling, however. While the match still did not take place, the two are destined to finish each other.

Tomorrow will be yet another opportunity for the two to get their hands on one another. Will we see the rivalry escalate to another level tomorrow? Will La Familia Real have a successful debut? or will Dinastia Munoz continue to prove why they’re the most dominant dynasty in all of CMLL?

In other matches taking place we’ll see:

Volador Jr., Sanson, Cuatrero, and Forastero vs. Gran Guerrero, Templario, Euforia & Soberano Jr.

Marcela vs. Amapola – CMLL Women’s Championship

Angel De Oro, Niebla Roja, Esfinge vs. Hechicero, Luciferno, Ephesto

Super Astro Jr. & Sonic vs. Raziel & Cancerbero

Stay tuned for the historic event airing live tomorrow night through CMLL’s YouTube channel and on their Facebook account beginning at 9:30 pm EST.
