#AndNEW: New Frontline Heavyweight Champion Crowned, Plus J-1 League Finals

Frontline Wrestling, the company that was owned by Will Ospreay, held their one-year anniversary show on Friday from London’s Stratford Circus entitled 1 Year On The Frontline. On that night, a new Heavyweight Champion was crowned as Sha Samuels emerged from the night with some shiny gold around his waist.

New Frontline Wrestling Heavyweight Champion Crowned

The original Heavyweight Championship match that had been announced for the show was inaugural champion Mark Haskins putting the title on the line against David Starr, a match that Starr had earned after beating Dan Moloney in a #1 contenders match back in January at the Chaos Restored event. However, Sha Samuels had other plans in mind as he interrupted the match and, in his own words, ‘mugged them both off’. Thus, The East-End Butcher is now our new Frontline Heavyweight Champion to celebrate one year on the frontline.

J-1 League Finals

This event was also notable for the finals of the J-1 League, a round robin-style tournament that’s been ongoing since November to showcase the very best of the UK’s junior division – in a way, it could be classed as a much longer version of New Japan‘s Best of the Super Juniors in the UK. The tournament would be won by Paul Robinson, as he defeated Jordan Breaks, Senza Volto, Scotty Davis, Ash Draven, and Malik in an Elimination Match to take home the trophy.

In addition to all this, Will Ospreay also revealed that he’ll be selling Frontline Wrestling as he prepares to move to Japan full-time, a decision he let us known upon winning this year’s Best of the Super Juniors tournament earlier in the month. A new owner(s) has yet to be revealed at the time of writing, but make sure to keep your eyes peeled on the site as we’ll bring you the news as and when it comes.
