Sin Cara Signs Multi-Year Extension With WWE

Sin Cara

Sin Cara has seemingly put pen-to-paper on a new multi-year contract extension with the WWE according to PWInsider.

The news comes just hours after AJ Styles announced on Twitter (in a Tweet introducing his new puppy to the world) that he has extended his phenomenally successful stay with the company.  Could this mean others are set to announce an extension? Quite possibly.

WWE Signs Sin Cara to Multi-Year Extension

Whereas Sin Cara has not had quite the success of AJ Styles, he has been with the company ten years (he signed his WWE developmental contract in 2009) and has spent almost eight of them as the main roster.  Whilst initially debuting on the main roster as Sin Cara (covering for the original Sin Cara, Mistico/Luis Avire during his wellness suspension), he soon turned heel and began portraying Sin Cara Negro – a traditional rudo (heel) luchadore acting as the opposite to the pure, face Sin Cara.  He later went on to portray a stereotypical, Mexican hoodlum character that failed to get over.

After the original Sin Cara’s (Mistico) exit from WWE, Hunico eventually returned to playing the Sin Cara character – perhaps a better choice because of his ability to speak fluent English.  He continues to play the character to this day.  His most prominent WWE success can be found as one half of the Lucha Dragons, with Kalisto – a team that has a single NXT Tag Team Championship run to its name.  Whereas his current role in the company isn’t a prominent one, the offering of a new multi-year deal suggests that he is a valued member of the WWE rosters; still with a role to play – a role he will play for years to come.
