Sami Callihan and Austin Aries Have Words at Warrior Wrestling IV

On Friday night in Chicago, at Warrior Wrestling IV: Beware the Ides of March, one of the most heated Twitter feuds of 2019 finally collided head to head, as Sami Callihan and Austin Aries met face to face for the first time. Austin Aries was booked to wrestle former IMPACT roster mate Eddie Edwards, while Callihan and his OvE pals, Dave & Jake Crist, were to slated to face AEW’s SCU (Christopher Daniels, Frankie Kazarian & Scorpio Sky) in the main event. The entire incident began during a match for the Freelance Championship between Kylie Rae and Britt Baker, two other members of All Elite Wrestling (AEW). Another OvE co-hort, Jessicka Havok, took out both women near the end of the match. This prompted Sami Callihan and the Crists to come down and aim a tirade towards AEW.

But during the latter part of Callihan’s promo, Austin Aries – whose match was scheduled next – came out to interrupt Callihan. When Sami noticed who it was coming out, he went livid. “Oh look, it’s Banana Man Dan! It’s Banana Man Dan! Out here to preach his bullcrap message! What do you want now? This is OUR time!”

Austin Aries found himself a mic and was short to the point: “This ain’t your company, your times up, so get to the back – there’s other people on the show.”

The remarks were in regards to the heated Twitter exchange between the former IMPACT workmates, which began in early February and continued for over a week. Part of the argument stemmed from claims from Aries that he had matches cut short during his time with IMPACT due to Sami Callihan going over his allotted time. Sami briefly attempted to hold the ring hostage with a chair sit in before he left the ring and departed backstage.

Here’s a video of the full exchange (unfortunately, the audio didn’t come through on the recording, but you can hear the full exchange on Highspots Network where the replay is now up to watch in full – video with permission and courtesy of Warrior Wrestling).

While Aries didn’t interfere in the main event of OvE vs SCU, they have come face to face and it will be interesting to see if these two finally meet in the ring somewhere. And while Aries didn’t get involved, Jessicka Havok did try and get involved, only for Kylie Rae and Britt Baker to return to the ring, making the main event turn into an AEW vs IMPACT affair.
