Preview: World Series Wrestling (WSW) – Defend & Destroy Sydney Night 2 (3/11/19)

This weekend a swath of international wrestling stars descend upon Australia to mix it up with the best our country has to offer. One of the major highlights of this World Series Wrestling (WSW) was the crowning of the first ever WSW Women’s Champion through a tournament format.

WSW closes out their tour on Monday night at Penrith Panthers leagues club with the following set of matches.

TMDK (Slex & Mikey Broderick) vs SoCal Uncensored (Frankie Kazarian & Scorpio Sky)

TMDK are looking to now take their domineering momentum from Australia onto a global stage when they battle the SCU team of Frankie Kazarian and Scorpio Sky.

SCU will be looking to use their veteran minds to defeat the relatively new pairing of Broderick and Slex in this first time ever matchup.

Grudge Match: Marty Scurll vs Flip Gordon

During their time appearing on Being The Elite Marty Scurll and Flip Gordon developed quite the rivalry. This Monday in Sydney they will finally be able to let it all out when they step into the ring against each other.

Will Gordon be able to gain revenge against Scurll after ‘The Villian’ turned his back on him?

Brian Cage vs Christopher Daniels

In yet another cross-promotional battle IMPACT Wrestling’s Brian Cage will face All Elite Wrestling’s, Christopher Daniels.

This very well could be the last time fans have the opportunity to see the power of Cage abasing the ring general Daniels. Will the veteran be able to use his years of experience and tactical mastery to overcome ‘The Machine’?

Bandido vs Flamita

Don’t blink or you’ll miss it!

There really is no other way to describe this area match as Bandido battles his luchador compatriot Flamita.

With these two men being so familiar with each other Sydney is in for a treat as these men zip around the ring with lightning quickness and agility. This matchup could very well come down to who makes the first mistake and leaves the door open for their opponent.

Abyss vs Mat Diamond vs Jack Bonza

As Jack Bonza so eloquently pointed out on Twitter, “one of these things is not like the other.”

In a battle of the giants, Mat Diamond stands out as the odd man out in this matchup. Diamond will need to use all of his high-flying abilities to overcome three monsters.

With Brody King now out with a broken hand, Abyss will be the third and final entrant in the match.

WSW World Title: Robbie Eagles (c) vs Austin Aries

In a rematch from this very show on the last WSW Wrestling tour, Austin Aries will be looking for redemption as he now enters Penrith as the challenger rather than the champion.

The crowd will once again be solidly behind Eagles, the roar of the crowd when Eagles picked up the victory is a moment which will long be remembered by Sydney wrestling fans.

This match will be a battle of two of the best in-ring competitors the world has to offer. Now that Eagles enters this match with an added level of confidence, from both defeating Aries last tour and also joining the Bullet Club since then, he will be a tough man to beat. If anybody can do it though Austin Aries is the man, and I’m sure he would love nothing more than to spoil the party for Sydney.
