Report: Jeff Jarrett Joins WWE Creative Team In “Full Time Executive Level Role”

According to a new report from PWInsider‘s Mike Johnson, WWE Hall of Famer and TNA/IMPACT Wrestling founder Jeff Jarrett has already received a promotion within WWE after just being brought back to the company fold in late January to work as a Producer backstage. After just over a month with the company, he’s spent the past week with the WWE Headquarters in Stamford, Connecticut, where he’s now been given a “full time executive level role” in WWE Creative going forward, joining recently returning Bruce Prichard (who is a new Senior Vice President) as well as recently promoted women’s lead writer Betsy Kelso.

Jeff Jarrett debuted with his father Jerry Jarrett’s Continental Wrestling Association (CWA) in Memphis, where he was one of the hottest young prospects in the country in the late 1980s and early 1990s. He joined the WWE in 1992 and spent four years with the company, moving to the top of the mid-card and becoming a 3x WWE Intercontinental Champion in his first run.

In October 1996, he jumped ship to rival WCW during the beginnings of the Monday Night Wars, where he would win the WCW United States Championship, and flirt with joining the Four Horsemen before ultimately being expelled from the group. Following the end of his one year deal, he returned to the WWE once again.

His second run with the WWE produced three more Intercontinental reigns as well as a WWE World Tag Team title run alongside Owen Hart. But following the expiration of his 2-year deal with WWE, he returned to WCW in 1999.

In his second run with WCW, Jarrett was elevated to main event status, where he became a 4x WCW World Heavyweight Champion during WCW’s final days. He was infamously fired by Vince McMahon on the last episode of WCW Nitro.

In 2002, he and his father founded Total Nonstop Action (TNA) Wrestling which became the first alternative to the WWE to hit television following the demise of WCW and ECW. He would become a 6x NWA World’s Heavyweight Champion in TNA/IMPACT, until his company was sold to Panda Energy and his power began to wane. He departed the company in 2014.

Since his departure, he started his own company, Global Force Wrestling, before returning briefly to IMPACT in 2017. He’s also worked extensively with AAA in Mexico, including two reigns as the AAA Mega Champion. He made his WWE ring return at this year’s Royal Rumble, appearing on several episodes of Raw after his return. He was inducted into the 2018 Class of the WWE Hall of Fame.
