Reports: Bruce Prichard Re-Hired By WWE For Creative

According to PWInsider, former longtime WWE employee Bruce Prichard, considered Vince McMahon‘s “right hand man” and one of the most influential men behind the scenes for much of the 1990s and 2000s in WWE, has been re-hired by the company in a very similar role, and will be working as head of creative for the company, once again working directly beside Vince McMahon on WWE’s Creative Team.

Bruce Prichard started his career in pro wrestling in the 1980s, working with Paul Boesch in the Houston Wrestling territory. When Boesch sold his territory to Vince McMahon in the late 1980s, Prichard began working with the then-WWF, first in an interviewer role, before portraying the character Brother Love in 1988. As the red-faced televangelist character, Brother Love was introduced first as the spiritual advisor for Bobby “The Brain” Heenan and then revealed as being funded by “The Million Dollar Man” Ted DiBiase. In 1990, he “discovered” The Undertaker, bringing him out for his WWE debut, but shortly after sold his contract to Paul Bearer. In 1991, he was released from the company.

He was rehired a year later, and soon became one of the most important backstage members of Vince McMahon’s cabinet, becoming his lieutenant in multiple facets of the creative operations of the company, from Creative to Producer to Road Agent and much more. He would be an integral part of Vince McMahon’s inner circle for the next 16 years, until his departure from the company in 2008.

In 2010, Prichard joined TNA/IMPACT Wrestling, working in a capacity very similar to that which he had in the WWE for the past two decades, and in 2012 was promoted to Senior Vice President, Programming & Talent Relations. A year after his promotion, he departed IMPACT with a changing of direction. He returned briefly in 2017 following Anthem’s purchase of IMPACT, but in a consulting role, without signing an actual contract with the company.

In May of 2018, he joined Major League Wrestling (MLW) as a Senior Producer and helped Court Bauer and the rest of MLW relaunch the brand after a 13-year hiatus. He remained with MLW until November of last year, when he departed the company. Since 2016, he had been working with MLW’s podcast empire, with his hugely successful Something To Wrestle With podcast with co-host Conrad Thompson.

While many are rejoicing the return of a man who was a part of some of WWE and TNA’s best times creatively, there was one glaring exception.
