Who is WWE’s latest WWE Performance Center recruit Elliot Sexton? Sexton is an Australian wrestling standout who stands at 6’5” and weighs in at 253lbs. Sexton is also a former Melbourne City Wrestling (MCW) heavyweight champion, holding a 559 day reign, a former WrestleRock champion, with a 1379 day reign, and finally member of The Mighty Don’t Kneel (TMDK), where he often competed as a tag team partner with fellow WWE recruit Jonah Rock as SexRock.
Sexton debuted in 2008 after training under current NXT coach Hartley Jackson and Cruiserweight Classic competitor Damian Slater. Thanks to his imposing physical stature Sexton was a standout on the Australian scene almost immediately but was also able to back it up when he stepped between the ropes. Performing all around the country for MCW, Wrestle Rampage, Explosive Pro Wrestling (EPW), Riot City Wrestling, WrestleRock and World Series Wrestling (WSW) Sexton has battled all of Australia’s top talent, and some major international names.
Some of Sexton’s most notable opponents throughout his career are; Jay White, Slex, Hartley Jackson, Bobby Lashley, JXT, Adam Brooks, AJ Istria, Lance Archer, Bad Luck Fale, Kenny Omega, Tama Tonga, Tanga Loa, Matt Riddle, Brody King, Trent Seven, Flash Morgan Webster and Chris Brooks.
Despite taking a step away from the Australian scene in 2017 Sexton’s name recognition afforded him opportunities to work with New Japan Pro Wrestling (NJPW) and PROGRESS during their tours of Australia in 2018. Sexton would then ride the wave of success with PROGRESS and perform with them again during their 2018 tour of the United States.
During his hiatus from Australian wrestling Sexton created a YouTube show, The Trophy Life which follows his misadventures and exploits whilst living in Orlando. The Trophy Life proved that Sexton is more than just a typical big bruiser but also has that loveable Aussie larrikin nature. Look for Sexton to quickly become a major player once he arrives on NXT television.
