RUMOR KILLER: Gresham Missed ROH TV Taping Due To Concussion

The internet has been rampant with reports and rumors regarding Jonathan Gresham‘s apparent removal from the recent Ring of Honor TV Tapings following ROH Final Battle. According to reports from the latest Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Gresham left the arena after his match against Zack Sabre Jr., missing a planned run-in during the Cody Rhodes vs Jay Lethal match, and was then not used for the ROH TV Tapings the next night, after being late by an hour. Dave Meltzer corroborated an original report from PWTorch’s Sean Radican earlier this week. Pro Wrestling Torch reported that Gresham “was extremely upset” with his match against Zack Sabre and left the building. They went on to report that Gresham was “is extremely difficult to work with when it comes to putting together matches and is difficult to work with. One ROH source told PWTorch he would have fired Gresham if it were up to him for leaving the building during the Final Battle PPV.”

Well, it seems it was all a lot of sensationalism, as Gresham’s fiance and arguably one of the biggest indie stars of 2018, Jordynne Grace, took to Twitter on Thursday to debunk these reports and set the record straight. According to Grace, the reason he left upset after his match was because he sustained a concussion during the match and had to be taken to a hospital that night. He wasn’t used at the TV tapings due to not being medically cleared or as a precautionary measure, NOT due to any kind of punishment. Gresham has not wrestled with any company since that match at Final Battle.

Grace then left a departing shot to the sites that ran with the misinformation.

With a stand out feud against Jay Lethal through 2018 and capped off with a stellar matchup against Zack Sabre Jr. at Final Battle, 2019 looks to be a big year for Gresham in ROH once he returns from his injury. But in the meantime, he and Grace are probably still celebrating their recent engagement last week.
