#AndNEW: Kento Miyahara Wins All Japan Triple Crown

Today at All Japan‘s Raising An Army Memorial event in Yokohama, Kento Miyahara became a 4x All Japan Triple Crown Champion, defeating Zeus in the main event and ending Zeus’ reign at only 84 days. Zeus had previously defeated Miyahara for All Japan’s top prize back in July at All Japan’s Summer Action Series (Night 11) in Osaka.

With four reigns as Triple Crown Champion, it ties Miyahara in 3rd place with Stan Hansen, and puts him one behind the two co-second place names, Toshiaki Kawada and the legendary Mitsuharu Misawa with five reigns, and two behind the most decorated champion, Suwama, who has six. But while the others accomplished their feats over length All Japan careers, Kento Miyahara has accomplished his four runs in only five years with the company – he joined All Japan full time in 2013, following his previous six as one of Pro Wrestling NOAH‘s young stars. The 29-year old has also won all four Triple Crown titles in the past two years, since moving from being more of a tag team wrestler to one of All Japan’s faces of the future in the singles division and main event. His first Triple Crown title was won February of 2016, which he held for a massive 464 day reign, itself a feat, being the 4th longest reign out of the 62 champions who have held the belt since its inception in 1989.
