#AndNEW: Jeff Cobb wins PWG World Championship

With NXT snapping up American indie mega stars such as Keith Lee and Matt Riddle recently, there are gaps to be filled.  Guys like Shane Strickland have become big names in top companies in the absence of the old stars.  Another guy that has stepped up to fill the gap at the top of the scene is Jeff Cobb.

Cobb shocked everyone when he became the winner of Pro Wrestling Guerrila’s (PWG) prestigious Battle Of Los Angeles (BOLA) tournament, when he defeated Shingo Takagi and Bandido in the final to claim the prestigious tournament for the first time.  In the interim, he has also become Ring Of Honor TV Champion and been appearing for New Japan Pro Wrestling.

Cobb’s reward for winning BOLA was a PWG championship match against wrestling’s final boss WALTER.  One of the most intimidating men in wrestling today and 2018’s MVP WALTER facing Mr. Athletic Jeff Cobb is a dream match anywhere in the world.  Again, to the shock of everyone, Jeff Cobb defeated WALTER to become PWG World Champion for the first time ever.

The independent scene in 2018 has needed to restock and Jeff Cobb could end up one of the biggest winners of NXT’s signing spree.  Out of nowhere he has emerged as a pushed commodity in some of the biggest independent wrestling companies in the US and he has capped it all of by capturing the top prize in independent wrestling the PWG World Championship
