Triple H and NXT UK General Manager Johnny Saint unveiled the NXT UK Tag Team titles today in Portsmouth, England at the latest set of NXT UK tapings, announcing that there would be a tournament to crown the inaugural champions.

While they haven’t announced the teams yet for the tournament, presumably taking place over the next set of tapings, here’s a quick glance at the teams currently in NXT UK.
Moustache Mountain (Trent Seven & Tyler Bate)
Probably the odds on favourite to win the tournament and inaugural NXT UK Tag Team titles, Moustache Mountain have arguably been the UK’s top tag team the past few years. Apart from being former NXT Tag Team Champions, in the UK they’re former 2x PROGRESS Tag Team Champions, RevPro Undisputed British Tag Team Champions, Fight Club: PRO Tag Team Champions, and ATTACK! Tag Team Champions. They’ve also held tag team gold in CHIKARA and currently hold the International Wrestling Syndicate (IWS) Tag Team titles out of Montreal.
The Coffey Brothers (Joe & Mark Coffey)
The Scottish brothers have formed a stable alongside another NXT UK Scot, Wolfgang, and will be a force within NXT UK in the coming months. All three are dominant performers with Insane Championship Wrestling (ICW) out of Glasgow – Wolfgang is a former ICW World Champion, Joe Coffey is a former 2x ICW World Champion, and Mark Coffey is 3x ICW Zero-G Champion and 4x ICW Tag Team Champion. While the stable may use a different combination of two wrestlers, they most likely will enter the tournament – and don’t be surprised if they employ Freebird Rules if they win.
Grizzled Young Veterans (Zack Gibson & James Drake)
The Grizzled Young Vets were one of England’s most dominant tag teams the past year and they’re now taking their fight to NXT UK. The 2x PROGRESS Tag Team Champions have fended off a lot of the top UK tag teams in the past year already and will have no fear going into this tournament looking to add WWE gold to their collection.
Kenny Williams & Amir Jordan
Two outstanding high flyers who have been paired together at the NXT UK tapings, these two have been solid singles wrestlers for most of their career. Kenny Williams is another ICW product and 3x ICW Zero G Champion, while Amir Jordan is a former Z-Force Champion with IPW.
While no other details of the tournament have been revealed, at least one WWE main roster tandem has enquired about entry – 205 Live‘s Lince Dorado of Lucha House Party (the stable with Gran Metalik and Kalisto) has seemingly thrown their names into the hat.
