Bayley Teases Match With Ivory at WWE Evolution

With just over two weeks until the WWE’s first all-women’s pay-per-view, WWE Evolution, the card is starting to take shape as the WWE begins to go into full gear to promote this huge event for the company. This past Monday on RAW, the two previously announced singles matches – Trish Stratus vs. Alexa Bliss and Lita vs. Mickie James – were amalgamated into a tag match pitting the two Hall of Famers against Bliss and James in tag team action, while Ronda Rousey got her Raw Women’s Championship Match opponent finalized in Nikki Bella. Also announced is the NXT Women’s Championship match featuring Kairi Sane defending her title against Shayna Baszler, and the finals of the 2018 Mae Young Classic.

With so many dream options on the table for the first Evolution, many of today’s current stars have been angling for their own dream match against former WWE Superstars. For example, in recent interviews, Naomi has expressed interest in working with former Women’s Champion Melina. You can now add Bayley to that list, who engaged in a conversation with 2017 WWE Hall of Fame inductee and former 3x Women’s Champion Ivory.

While it’s far from a confirmation from the WWE – in fact, there’s no reports to suggest the match is even on the company’s radar – it’s a match-up that many fans would clamor for, as the two represent two of the most skilled women ever to wrestle for the WWE. The match itself would require no gimmicks or special attractions, as both are solid technical wrestlers who could simply put on a great and fun match with all the storytelling told in the ring.

A one off “dream match” may be best for Bayley – as it for several of the women on WWE’s main roster – as she has been without a proper storyline since her reconciliation with Sasha Banks and brief feud with Ruby Riott. Although while Bayley has still been active, as her proposed opponent mentioned in regards to needing time to get in ring shape, Ivory has not wrestled for over a decade. She last competed in 2006, when she was working with Canada’s Elite Canadian Championship Wrestling (ECCW). Ivory last wrestled for the WWE in 2003 in a loss to Victoria on Sunday Night Heat on December 15.
