Huge UK Indie Women’s Fatal 4-Way Announced for WWE UK Special

United Kingdom Championship Tournament

First reported by Squared Circle Sirens (off the online promo from Live Nation), the WWE will be hosting a Fatal Four Way Match between four of the top European women’s wrestlers on Monday June 18 at the Royal Albert Hall in London, England as part of the first night of the WWE UK Championship Tournament Event. According to the Live Nation card, it will feature PROGRESS Women’s Champion Jinny vs. Toni Storm vs. Isla Dawn vs. Killer Kelly. The winner will face NXT Women’s Champion Shayna Baszler the following night for the NXT Women’s Championship.

Jinny Couture (or just Jinny, leader of House of Couture in PROGRESS) just defeated Toni Storm for the PROGRESS Women’s Championship, ending Storm’s 357 day reign as Women’s Champion. It’s just the latest UK championship for Jinny, a four year veteran of the ring and student of Jimmy Havoc, who also recently won the inaugural RevPro British Women’s Championship and the inaugural Maiden of Chaos Championship for Pro Wrestling Chaos. WWE has had some interest in Jinny of late, but she’s also been on their radar for a while – she faced Toni Storm last year at the WrestleMania Axxess PROGRESS showcase in Orlando.

TONI STORM

Toni Storm has been Europe and Asia’s most dominant women’s wrestler the past year, following her appearance in last year’s Mae Young Classic and making it to the final four. She won the Cinderella and 5* Grand Prix tournaments in Japan with Stardom, along with the World of Stardom Championship (which she still holds), is the reigning wXw Women’s Championship in Germany, and won the inaugural PROGRESS Women’s Championship just over a year ago. It’s been reported that she’s just signed a WWE UK deal, so expect her to be a huge part of the UK brand going forward.

KILLER KELLY

Portugal’s Killer Kelly is an eight year veteran, but really came into her own when she became a regular with Germany’s wXw last year – she won the inaugural wXw Women’s Championship last December. Since then she’s worked the UK more as well, with RevPro and Pro Wrestling: EVE, with this marking her WWE debut.

ISLA DAWN

Glasgow, Scotland’s Isla Dawn is only 24 years old, but she’s working around the world in wrestling since she was only 19. Starting with the Scottish Wrestling Alliance (SWA) in 2013, she’s also worked PROGRESS, ICW, IPW:UK, and Pro Wrestling: EVE in the UK, as well as wXw. In 2016, she did a tour with Stardom in Japan and last year began to work in the North American circuit, with the likes of SHINE, CZW, and Women Superstars Uncensored (WSU). She even worked one match with the WWE last fall at the Raw from Manchester, England, where she wrestled Asuka under the name “Stacey Coates“. She’s got at least one close ally in the WWE already – she’s currently dating NXT Champion Aleister Black.

A huge match up featuring four outstanding wrestlers, with all four being very strong candidates to participate in the upcoming Mae Young Classic II.
