UK Wrestler Alex Windsor Steps Away From Wrestling

One of the UK wrestling scene’s veteran women’s wrestlers, Alex Windsor, announced today on her Social Media that she was stepping away from professional wrestling to “start a new chapter” in her professional life.

At only 24 years old, it’s hard to imagine someone so young as being a “veteran”, but she’s been wrestling for nearly a decade. She began in 2009 at the age of 13, trained by the famous Knight Family (Saraya & Ricky Knight) at World Association of Wrestling (WAW) in Norfolk, England. Her first match was a WAW Academy match against a 14-year Britani Knight in December of 2009, who ironically announced her own departure from the squared circle earlier this month (Britani Knight is better known as WWE Superstar Paige). As Liberty, she feuded with Paige early and often, even tagging with Paige’s own mother, Sweet Saraya, against her.

In 2010, she began to work with Pro Wrestling EVE as well, and in 2011, at only age 15, she was crowned WAW Women’s Champion, defeating Paige. She became a huge part of Saraya Knight’s Bellatrix women’s wrestling promotion in 2011, winning her first of two Belllatrix titles in 2014, defeating a pre-Rosemary Courtney Rush. She also began to work around the UK, including IPW:UK, Preston City Wrestling (PCW), Futureshock and others, as well as debuting in the US with both SHIMMER and SHINE in 2015.

In 2016, she changed names from Liberty to Alex Windsor, becoming more aggressive and fierce, and continued to shine in the exploding UK wrestling scene, working for the likes of PROGRESS, Southside Wrestling Entertainment (SWE), WCPW/Defiant Wrestling, OTT, RevPro and more, including wXw in Germany. Last year, she was ranked #33 on the PWI50 for Top 50 Women’s Wrestlers in the world.
