Well, that didn’t take long. On Sunday night at ICW Square Go, Dublin’s “Session Moth” Martina defeated Kasey Owens to become the new ICW Women’s Champion, but last night at ICW’s Fight Club taping, the belt changed hands once again, as Scottish indie star Viper (also known as Piper Niven in WWE’s Mae Young Classic) defeated Martina to win her second ICW Women’s title.

A 9-year veteran of the UK indie circuit, Viper got her start in 2009 with the Scottish Wrestling Alliance (SWA), but it didn’t take long for her to break out of her home country. By 2011, she was working with Pro Wrestling EVE and the Knight family’s WAW. By 2013, she had made her debut with Glasgow’s ICW and since then has worked for a multitude of UK promotions, including Defiant Wrestling (WCPW), Southside Wrestling Entertainment (SWE), Preston City Wrestling (PCW), 5*Star Wrestling and more.

In 2016, she made her Japanese debut with Stardom, originally aligning with Kagestu’s Oedo Tai. She frequently tagged with Kyoko Kimura and feuded with the likes of Io Shirai and Kairi Hojo (now NXT’s Kairi Sane). Last summer, she switched factions, joining Shirai in Queen’s Quest, and becoming the Artist of Stardom Champion (Stardom’s trios title) alongside HZK and Shirai, a title she still holds.

This win is a coming of full circle for Viper, who was ICW’s inaugural Women’s Champion, winning a Triple Threat in 2015 at ICW Fear & Loathing III, against Kay Lee Ray and Nikki Storm (now NXT’s Nikki Cross). Viper gained worldwide exposure last summer when she participated in WWE’s Mae Young Classic, advancing to the third round following big wins over Santana Garrett and Serena Deeb, before losing to Toni Storm.
