BREAKING: Former Impact Champion Appears at Takeover: Philadelphia

Following a brutal Extreme Rules match between Aleister Black and Adam Cole, former  2x Impact Wrestling World Champion EC3 was shown sitting ringside and both the on-screen caption and Mauro Ranallo referred to him as EC3 and not the much-feared former NXT persona he wore as Derrick Bateman. Percy Watson even referenced EC3’s Impact theme song, when he said that “trouble” was coming to NXT. Ranallo referred to EC3 as a new NXT signing, confirming he was officially starting with the NXT brand.

The move had been rumored since EC3’s exit from Impact. One of the top stars over the last few years on Impact, he will now look to make an impact in the WWE. It will be interesting to see what programs he is placed in, and what type of promotion he receives. The recent decision by the Anthem braintrust to allow wrestlers to keep their personas after leaving Impact obviously has played a huge part in the direction WWE will take with their latest NXT signing.
