BREAKING: RevPro Crowns First RevPro Women’s Champion

It appears that companies around the world are finally catching up on the idea that having their own Women’s Champion is not only good ethics, but good for business. Last year saw UK giant PROGRESS crown their first ever Women’s Champion in Toni Storm, while AAW in the States (Jessicka Havok) and wXw in Germany (Killer Kelly) also crowned their inaugural Women’s Champs. At today’s Live at the Cockpit 25 event, Revolution Pro (RevPro) crowned their very own RevPro Women’s Champion, when Jinny outlasted seven other women in the weekend’s tournaments to become RevPro’s first official British Women’s Champion.

Going in on Friday’s Live at the Cockpit 24, the tournament bracket featured a solid mix of veteran and emerging UK talent, such as Jinny, Nina Samuels, Charlie Evans, and US star Deonna Purrazzo. After Day 1, it was Jinny, Purrazzo, and youngsters Millie McKenzie (a potential 2018 breakout UK star) and Zoe Lucas moving on to today’s action.

Jinny Couture has been a soldier on the UK circuit since she debuted back in 2014 with PROGRESS and IPW:UK, being one of the real pioneers of the UK’s Women’s Revolution. She just lost out on two historic titles in 2017, losing in the Triple Threat Finals for the PROGRESS Women’s title and losing to eventual winner Killer Kelly in the wXw Women’s title tournament as well. After defeating youngster McKenzie in the semi-final, she met and defeated Deonna Purrazzo in the finals to become RevPro’s British Women’s Champion. She also took part in two PROGRESS showcase events for the WWE at last year’s WrestleMania AXXESS in Orlando, Florida.

While this is RevPro’s first official women’s champion, they had previously been recognizing the Pro Wrestling EVE Champion on RevPro events, similar to how Ring of Honor used to recognize the SHIMMER Champion. In fact, current EVE Champion Sammii Jayne was an entrant, but lost out first night to Purrazzo.
