Tournament To Crown New Knockouts Champion Starts Tonight

Tonight’s episode of Impact Wrestling will feature the start of a short tournament to crown the 49th Knockouts Champion in Impact Wrestling history, following the vacating of the title by a retiring Gail Kim on the November 16 episode of Impact. The tournament will be short, featuring two triple threat matches, with the winner of each match moving to the final to face the other winner.

The Knockouts title was created in 2007 and the inaugural champion was the very woman who vacated the title two weeks ago, 7x Champion Gail Kim, who defeated Awesome Kong, Traci Brooks, ODB, Angelina Love, Jacqueline, Roxxi Laveaux, Christy Hemme, Shelly Martinez and Velvet Sky in a gauntlet match at Bound For Glory ’07. Ten years later, Gail Kim won her record 7th Knockouts title at Bound For Glory ’17 in Ottawa, Ontario last month, defeating reigning champion Sienna and Allie in a triple threat match.

The two triple threats will feature three former Knockouts Champions in one match – Rosemary vs. Sienna vs. Allie – and then Laurel Van Ness vs. former Knockouts Champion Madison Rayne vs. newcomer KC Spinelli in the other, with the latter airing tonight to kick off the show.

The wild card in the tournament is the least well known (to most) in Canadian indie star KC Spinelli. She’s been wrestling since 2009, beginning on the West Coast with ECCW, but has since appeared for many other promotions, including SHIMMER and AAA, plus other top Canadian indies like SMASH, A-1, Destiny and BCW. She held the ECCW Women’s title for 512 days amidst a near 3 year feud with Nicole Matthews.
