Ring of Honor has announced that former WWE and Impact Wrestling Star Ken Anderson (formerly Mr. Kennedy and Mr. Anderson) is heading to Ring of Honor.

The former Impact Wrestling World Champion is making his ROH debut on April 28, 2017 at ROH’s Masters of the Craft event and is immediately jumping into the ROH title picture, against the ROH World Television Champion “The Villain” Marty Scurll.

Ken Anderson got his start with the WWE in 2005 and had a fairly successful and popular run as Mr. Kennedy, with his drop down microphone gimmick catching on big with the WWE Universe. He would score one run with WWE US Championship and won the 2007 Money In The Bank before his four year run was ended due to backstage conflicts (reportedly, several Superstars had issues with his in-ring work) in 2009.

He was soon snatched up by Impact Wrestling, changing his name to Mr. Anderson and continuing his same gimmick from the WWE (he opted not to use Mr. Anderson in the WWE to avoid being considered part of the Anderson family, that included Arn Anderson and Ric Flair). He lasted longer with Impact, from 2010 to 2016, and during that time captured far bigger gold, winning the TNA World Heavyweight Championship on two occasions. He was released in early 2016 following a failed drug test.

Following his Impact departure, he joined with fellow WWE alumni Shawn Daivari to open a new wrestling school, The Academy, in Minnesota. The past year he’s made sporadic appearances, for such indie promotions as ICW, Preston City and Tommy Dreamer’s House of Hardcore, but this return with ROH marks his return to North American television.
