Sports. Honestly. Since 2011

Survivor Series Preview: The Miz vs. Sami Zayn

Survivor Series Preview: The Miz vs. Sami Zayn. Will there be a new Intercontinental Champion? Which show will have the white belt next week?
Survivor Series Preview: The Miz vs. Sami Zayn

For the first time in many years, Survivor Series means something. Sure, a couple of years ago, they tried to implement consequences for the Survivor Series tag match, but as we all know, the Authority is still in power. Since the brand split, these matches actually matter. The biggest singles match? A cross-brand Intercontinental Championship match where the winner gets the white belt.

Survivor Series Preview: The Miz vs. Sami Zayn

Are you excited for Dolph Ziggler vs. Sami Zayn in an Intercontinental Championship match for the ages? Because I certainly was. What are we getting instead? Zayn vs. The Miz. Honestly, this will be fine. Miz is an underrated worker, and a heel vs. face match is better anyway.

The Winner

Sami Zayn has to win this match. The Miz has spent most of 2016 as the Intercontinental Champion, and he only won it Tuesday night. Sami Zayn is a fan favorite, and a fantastic worker with two MOTY candidates (vs. Shinsuke Nakamura at NXT TakeOver and vs. Kevin Owens at Battleground) under his belt. He should’ve won the belt at WrestleMania last year, and now is as good a time as any.

The CruiserWeight Championship

Monday Night Raw has completely dropped the ball with the CruiserWeight division. The fans don’t care, and it doesn’t seem like any of the wrestlers have direction. Perhaps on SmackDown Live!, the show “run” by Daniel Bryan, they’ll have better luck. It’s very likely that WWE CruiserWeight Champion Brian Kendrick will lose the belt this weekend, sending the whole CruiserWeight division to SmackDown Live! It would only be fair for both shows to gain a new title. Unless…

Survivor Swap?

While WWE hasn’t officially announced it, there’s a rumor that whichever brand wins two of the three tag matches will be allowed to select a superstar from the other show to switch brands. Since the split, fans have been saying that Zayn is being underutilized on Monday Night Raw and would be better used on SmackDown Live!. Since it doesn’t really make sense to add another belt to Monday Night Raw, wouldn’t it be hilarious if they didn’t?

What if Zayn defeated the Miz, bringing the Intercontinental Championship to Monday Night Raw, only for Team Red to lose two of the three matches and send Zayn to SmackDown anyway? It would be an interesting twist, and it would successfully let Raw win while SmackDown gained a superstar.
