Blake Jarwin Signs With Dallas Cowboys
Jarwin had an interesting go of things to start his NFL career. He went undrafted in the 2017 NFL Draft. However, Jarwin joined the Cowboys as an undrafted free agent on May 12th of 2017. He spent some time on the practice squad his rookie year, but was added to the active roster in late October of 2017. He played in just one game as a rookie but didn’t record any meaningful statistics.
The 2018 season saw Jarwin’s usage increase dramatically in comparison to his rookie year. The young tight end played in all 16 games and started in four. He had 27 receptions for 307 yards with three touchdowns. On December 30, 2018 Jarwin had a monster game. He hauled in seven catches for 119 yards and three touchdowns.
In the 2019 season, Jarwin had to deal with the Cowboys reuniting with longtime play-maker Jason Witten, who returned from retirement after a year away from the team. Nevertheless, Jarwin’s snap count increased slightly in 2019. He was on the field for 39% of offensive snaps compared to 36% in the 2018 season. He had 31 receptions for 365 yards and three touchdowns.
Jarwin is originally from Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. He went to Tuttle high school in Tuttle, Oklahoma. After graduating high school, he went to Oklahoma State University. He walked on to the football team and redshirted his freshman year. Jarwin’s college career totals were 41 receptions for 616 yards with five touchdowns. He earned First-Team All-Big 12 honors in 2015 and Second-Team All-Big 12 honors in 2016.
To date, Jarwin’s NFL statistics are 58 receptions for 672 yards and six touchdowns.
