Derrick Henry Receives Franchise Tag

Derrick Henry is officially off the open market. The four-year NFL running back spent the 2019 season with the Tennessee Titans.

Four-year NFL running back, Derrick Henry, has been franchise tagged by the Tennessee Titans,  keeping him with the team for at least one more season. Henry, a one-time Pro Bowler, spent the last four seasons with the Tennessee Titans. Adam Schefter first broke the news.

Henry spent the 2019 season with the playoff contending Tennessee Titans as the premier running back. Starting in 15 games, Henry set career highs in carries, yards, and touchdowns. Henry compiled 1540 rushing yards and 16 rushing touchdowns on the way to his first Pro Bowl nomination. He also averaged 5.1 yards per attempt and 102.7 yards per game. Henry also led the league in both rushing yards and rushing touchdowns

Henry initially entered the league in the 2016 NFL draft as the 45th pick in the second round. Selected by the Tennessee Titans, Henry recorded five rushing touchdowns on 110 rushes his rookie year. Additionally, Henry rushed for 490 yards and 29 first downs.

In total, Henry has spent four years with the Tennessee Titans. During his time there thus far, the second-round pick has recorded 38 rushing touchdowns and 3,833 rushing yards. Additionally, Henry has compiled 57 receptions for 578 yards and three touchdowns.

Throughout the first three years of his career, Henry has spent the majority of his time in Tennessee splitting carriers with a multitude of different running backs. It was not until the 2019 season that Henry finally separated himself from the pack, and became the lone featured back for the Titans heavy rushing offense.

Throughout the course of his career, Henry has played in five playoff games. In these games, Henry also compiled 118 rushes for 630 yards and three touchdowns. Henry also rushed for 27 first downs while averaging 126 yards per game. Henry compiled 10 receptions for 77 yards, averaging 7.7 yards per reception and 15.4 receiving yards per game.
