Laquon Treadwell Signs
Treadwell played college football for the University of Mississippi from 2013 to 2015, becoming the leader of receptions for the school. As an Ole Miss Rebel, he built a name for himself while playing college football. Treadwell was productive and consistent in his college career. In his freshman year, he was named the SEC freshman of the year. As a freshman, he recorded 72 receptions for 608 yards. In 2014, Treadwell sustained injuries against Auburn that would hinder him for the season. He ended his sophomore year with 48 receptions for 638 yards in 2014. Lastly, his junior year was probably the most successful year statistically with 82 receptions for 1153 yards.
Laquon Treadwell entered the NFL draft as a first-round pick in 2016. Treadwell’s rookie season was somewhat rocky. He was barely active, appearing in only nine games, and recording one reception for the season. His 2017 season showed a bit more promise with 20 receptions and 200 receiving yards. In 2019, the Vikings released him, and later, resigned him. Yet, Treadwell was not too productive. Of all the plays he has taken part in, one of the most memorable plays could be in this last season. In week 13, Treadwell walked away from the game against the Seattle Seahawks with 58 yard touchdown.
Although the NFL is a different environment than college, there is no doubt Treadwell’s college career has been a bit more productive than his professional career. In his college career, Treadwell recorded 21 touchdowns. However, in his professional career, he has recorded only two touchdowns. At 6′ 2 and 215 lbs, Treadwell’s frame and speeds makes him tough to defend. It is unsure whether his lack of utilization is due to his playing in general or just management of the play. It is going to be a journey to see how the team utilizes him this season.
