Wilson Accepts New Job With CBS Sports
Wilson’s retirement may be fresh, but that is not stopping him from continuing to work in the field that he loves. He has accepted a position with CBS Sports as an Analyst for the upcoming 2026 football season.
“As I enter this next chapter with CBS Sports and The NFL Today, I’m so blessed to continue doing what I love most, being around the greatest game in the world,” Wilson said.
Wilson seems to be a perfect fit for CBS Sports. The amount of experience, leadership qualities, and high-level football analysis skills that he possesses should be invaluable to their broadcast team. Wilson has built a reputation throughout his career of being one of the most prepared quarterbacks in the NFL, often credited for his ability to watch film and learn defensive schemes.
His experience playing in two different offensive systems and participating in two Super Bowls should be put to good use on television, and his polished public speaking ability and comfort level in front of a television camera will surely benefit their broadcasts. Wilson’s retirement may simply mark the beginning of another successful chapter in football.
Wilson’s Retirement Was Already in Question
Last month, after taking a meeting and having contract talks with the New York Jets, Wilson disclosed that the meeting went well, but that he was also considering a role on television.
“It was great,” Wilson said of the visit with the Jets. “They offered me, and I’m trying to figure out what the next best thing is for me to do. I still know I can play ball at a high level, but also I have an opportunity to do TV (analysis), so we’ll see what happens.”
Wilson’s comments now look like an early indication that retirement was on his mind. Even while discussing NFL opportunities, he was already weighing a move into television and considering what came next after football. Rather than signing with the Jets, he ultimately chose the broadcasting path and a new role with CBS Sports.
Seattle’s Greatest Quarterback of All Time
Wilson’s retirement ends the era of the Seahawks greatest quarterback of all time. Seattle had never been more dominant than in the era of Wilson playing behind center. He helped bring the Seahawks to prominence and led them to two Super Bowls, one of which he was victorious. During his ten seasons with the Seahawks, Wilson made it to the playoffs eight times.
Although the last few years of his career have been a bit rocky, many believe that Wilson is a first-ballot Hall of Famer. One thing that cannot be denied is that Wilson’s retirement closes the book on one of the most successful careers in Seahawks history, leaving behind a legacy defined by excellent postseason success and a decade of football that transformed Seattle into a perennial contender.
