Jatavis Brown Signs With Philadelphia Eagles

Jatavis Brown had a very quiet season. After being a key player at linebacker for the Chargers, he only made one start for the team in 2019, even being a healthy scratch at least once. He had very little playing time, and had only 10 total tackles (eight solo) and did not contribute anything else to the stat sheet all year.

Brown played football in high school at Glades Central High in Belle Glade, Florida, and then played in college at Akron. In his senior year at Akron (2015), he got 116 tackles (19.5 of them being for a loss), and a team record 11.5 sacks, as well as four forced fumbles and one interception. All of this earned him the Mid-American Conference Defensive Player of the Year Award. He also made the First-Team All-MAC from 2013 to 2015.

Brown was drafted in 2016 by the Chargers in the fifth round. He quickly became a key tackler for the team, getting 79 tackles (64 solo), which was the best on the entire team. He had three and a half sacks as well, plus six passes defensed and two forced fumbles. This was considering he missed four games. 2017 saw his stats fluctuate a little as he occasionally bounced between starting and being on lower snap counts.

2018 saw him finish with 97 tackles (61 solo), which was second best on the team. He also got one sack, which was the first one since his rookie campaign, as well as five passes defensed and one forced fumble. However, a late injury prevented him from playing in the playoffs.

Brown thus far in his career has 265 tackles (187 solo), four and a half sacks, 12 passes defensed, and three forced fumbles.
