Fantasy Football Week 12 Running Back Start Sits: Bo Scarbrough should have a productive week, while Adrian Peterson should be left on your bench.
Bo Scarbrough

Week 12 of the NFL season is right around the corner, and fantasy football owners everywhere are trying to optimize their lineups. Deciding on who to start and sit isn’t easy, especially when a player like Bo Scarbrough inherits a great situation. Let’s take a dive into all of the best start em’, sit em’ matchups of the week to put together the best possible lineup.

Bo Scarbrough, Adrian Peterson Highlight Fantasy Football Week 12 Running Back Start Sits

Start: Bo Scarbrough

Trying to predict the Detroit Lions running back rotation is one of the hardest tasks in fantasy, but Bo Scarbrough appears poised to take over as the top option. Despite playing alongside a healthy Ty Johnson and J.D. McKissic, Scabrough led the team with 14 carries for 55 yards and a touchdown. Detroit has yet to find a capable runner to replace Kerryon Johnson, but Scarbrough looked up to the task. He should be the lead guy moving forward and a safe bet to record double-digit touches. He’s obviously not going to be a RB1, but he’s worthy of a flex play.

Sit: Adrian Peterson

Adrian Peterson belongs on your bench for the foreseeable future. The one-time MVP was a solid play when he had full control of the backfield, but that’s no longer the case. With Derrius Guice back in town, Peterson’s simply a running back splitting carries on a bad offense. Seeing as he carries no upside in the passing game, Peterson shouldn’t be anywhere near your starting lineup.

Start: Jonathan Williams

Marlon Mack is out for the foreseeable future, which means that Jonathan Williams is going to be a big part of the Indianapolis Colts offense. The Colts have one of the best offensive lines in the league, and anyone receiving a consistent share of the carries is going to carry some sort of fantasy value. Jordan Wilkins is still limited in practice, so Williams should be the primary starter. He won’t average over seven yards per carry for the second straight week, but you can start him and feel good about receiving a safe performance.

Sit: Jamal Williams

Jamal Williams is very much the second fiddle to Aaron Jones and can be a valuable fantasy asset in the right matchup. However, Week 12’s game against the San Francisco 49ers is not the right matchup. The 49ers have one of the best defenses in the league and should limit Green Bay’s good-but-not-great offense. Aaron Jones is an auto-start, but Williams needs a positive game script in order to be productive. Unless Williams finds his way into the endzone, you’re going to regret starting him.

Start: Kareem Hunt

Baker Mayfield and the Cleveland Browns are easily capable of supporting two fantasy-relevant running backs. Kareem Hunt returned to action two weeks ago and is already a huge part of Cleveland’s passing attack. Through two games, Hunt has already recorded 17 targets, 13 receptions, and 90 receiving yards. This is exceptional for a running back, especially considering Hunt also provides value on the ground. He’s an easy start, especially in PPR formats.

Sit: Sony Michel

Sony Michel just isn’t going to happen this year. The former first-round pick has been outplayed by Rex Burkhead, James White, and even Brandon Bolden. Last week, Michel received the majority of the first half carries before spending most of the second half on the bench. New England figures to utilize more up-tempo in the coming weeks, and that’s bad news for Michel. Unless an injury occurs, the only New England running back you can trust is James White.
